The Honeymooners is a show I hate with an absolute passion and I can't say that about any other program ever. Even as a kid I wanted to jump through the tv and choke him to shut him up.
Ralph belittles his wife at every opportunity (they both do), she cow tows to him, the two men act like morons with an IQ of 10, he throws his weight around and screams endlessly like a wailing idiot. All of this behavior was shocking to me unlike any I had ever seen before and would never tolerate in real life. I was revolted and disgusted by the whole thing.
Which is similar to the sitcoms of today except now the men are cowtowing to the women
How true. Sgoldie doesn't see the humor within the show. I guess Sgoldie was no fan of another COMEDY with a similar husband, Married with Children. Another show with great writers.
It's hard to believe only 39 episodes! I have the DVD collection,I recently watched the episode where ralph and norton did the "Hucklebuck"...
The reason for 39 episodes is the Honeymooners lost a ratings battle with Perry Como and Gleason folded the show. If it had continued it probably would have faded and not be the cult favorite it is today.
Another great one! If memory serves at the start of the show Alice wants to put up her Mom up for the night and naturally Ralph has a moocow over it. They both get into it, finally Ralph relents Mom comes in the front door, as Ralph gets an oven timer , sets it at 5 minutes, and the timer ticks away. After 4 1/2 minutes of ripping Ralph about this and that, Mom and Alice talks about a movie that Ralph had planned on seeing. And mom spills the beans about how the film ends. The timer goes off, Ralph has proven his point, looks at Alice's mom and says YOU-are a blabbermouth. A BLABBERMOUTH!!!! YOU! BLABBERMOUTH!!!! OUT! GET OUT!!! OUT!! (or something like that).
I don't have the DVDs yet,but is that the one where they act like kids for a day? "Look at me I'm 13"

yep,thats it...one of my favorites..he was going to learn all the new
steps like the big apple,the suzy Q, the hesitation...(LOL)..
