Sues, your so right. I can watch the vacation home shows. I wonder if they want it for a rental property and want SS etc. to get higher rent. When I rent I don't care about all this stuff just AC and if at a beach a water front view.

I just continue to scratch my head and wonder where these young couples on House Hunters, Property Virgins, and even on here are working or getting this money from to have these big, extravagant houses. I'm in my late 20s, my s/o is in his early 40s, and while we make good money, I don't think we'd be able to qualify for half the mortgage of many of these people. Is the money just that good in other parts of the country or what? I've been watching this show for years and I enjoy it, but man do I become envious.

I heard somewhere many years ago that on HH they pay for their downpayment to have them be on the show. So that would help alot where the money comes from. On PV they have their downpayments calculated in already, so they may pay for that on there as well. You would think they would need to pay them something.

Friends of ours were on that new show My First Sale a few months ago, so maybe I can ask her...but that would be kind of rude I guess. haha!

How House Hunter's is shot is common knowledge on CD. And living in Knoxville where a lot of this stuff is produced, we know some insider stuff from friends, family, neighbors.

I knew that the production crew really does 90 percent of the work on all of these shows. I did NOT know that a lot of it is held together by duct tape, though. And having to pay taxes on "shoddy" work seems like a slap in the face.

I had to laugh at the "down payment" remark knowing how little these shows "pay" the people that appear on them. It's been said many times on here that people like to be on a show just to see their mug on television, even if they look like a fool. We've even had a participant on HHI show up on this thread.

And for the millionth time, yes there are people that can afford expensive homes. Clearly, there was a run on people that bought homes that they couldn't afford, last decade, but there are still people in this world that make "good" money.

I'm sure not everyone already knew the "insider information" and you didn't already know so thank you for posting the link Flamingo. Just becauuse I knew doesn't mean I can assume others know Plus there will always be new fans of the show and to CD.
Often times people's curiosity and opinions are laughed at or snide remarks are made about them---that's ok--ignore em. I do

Awhile back on this thread it was even discussed that one of the 3 houses seen by the buyer was actually their realtors house. LOL!!! They had to have the 2 staged homes and the realtor used their own as one of them. LOL!!!

I spent time looking at this and laughing pretty good:
Bad MLS Photos

Some of those people really should have been watching "Sell My House" even though it was staged.

I'd like to see some episodes in this area (Charlotte). We have so many people moving here from the Northeast and the West Coast where everything's so expensive and then they can afford these McMansions that are all over the place. It must be nice to be able to afford to live like that, but I guess the hard work they put into affording and maintaining their houses and not being able to really enjoy their money makes it worth it. It's okay....one day I'll make 6 figures
