I didnt know sad, sad, ugh sad.( just look it up)
Y&R should temporarily cancel series and run best of Kathrine until her Jeanne body is put to rest. She and my mom look a lot alike so this really hurts.

Jeanne Cooper was an unbelievable great actress and she will be missed terrible. I too watched her for almost 35 years and Y&R has to make now a big decision if they replace her with a new actress or if they plan her death on the show some how. In my opinion no one can replace her. May she rest in peace and she surely will entertain up in heaven so many of her fans.

I haven't watched Y&R since the late 70s, but still I can't imagine the show without her. Very sad.

They probably will have the character pass away, like 8 Simple Rules did with John Ritter. But they'll also have a tribute at the end of the show like they have with other long time contributors.

Oh dear, I'm just seeing this, though I knew she was not doing well at all... So, so sad... I actually dreamed about her last night and have had her in mind since...
I honestly think that she's known for a while that she may not make it, and influenced the scenario on the show with Katherine's surgery. She didn't look well at all in the last episodes she was in. My guess is that the writers are going to let Katherine die in her sleep as an unexpected side effect of her surgery, something like that.
My thoughts go to her family and the YR crew, who was like a second family to her.

Oh, no.....

I've been gone all day and just saw this.

How sad, and how ironic because I was just thinking a couple of days ago that she's been doing some of her best work on the show in a long time.

I can't imagine they'll try to replace her. They did replace her with Michael Lerned a while back but that was just a temporary thing; I just don't see it working long term.

I don't think they can let Kathrine die. She is so important with Jill, Cane, Ester, even victor and of course Murphy.

I can remember when Y&R was the NEW soap of the day. I watched when she had a veil over her face. I can see her now.
I think Jeanne was a great role model for those of us getting older. She kept active, involved and vital. I'm sure the cast and crew at Y&R are in deep mourning. I am as well. these actors and their characters become a real part of our lives after watching them for so long.

They can't recast either. No fan, and possibly no actor on the show, would like it. And having an " off screen" Kay would be weird too. So saying farewell to the character seems the only, and right thing to do. It would be closure for everyone, on screen and at home.
