O.K. I am suffering from a brain fart. Who was the guest judge tonight? They kept calling her Carol. I amat a loss to who this woman is, although she looks quite familiar.

That was Carole Bayer Sager, married once to Burt Bacharach. She's written many songs for different artists that are now Pop legend and she's a singer in her own right too.
I also thought she looked familiar, but she's mostly behind the scenes I think.
I watched tonight's show out of New York.... what a freakfest!!!! The newest ploy for non-talents seems to be if you're rejected, then start crying and insist on being passed through because you've worked "so hard...harder than anybody" for it...
Wasn't that one Goldberg girl a twisted freako who admitted she couldn't sing, but insisted that singing wasn't necessary to be an American Idol and ended up screaming and screeching and going on an on? She DEFINITELY was not on her medication!!!!!
And that flamboyant guy with the "chinchilla" boa who demanded to see Simon's greencard?? Lord have mercy.
It was very entertaining tonight!!!!!

What a bunch of freaks! And, I'm being kind. No wonder Simon is a crank! If I had to sit through that nonsense, I would be too! They'd be lucky if I didn't drop-kick them through the door; the one that doesn't open! But, like MoMark said, it was entertaining. (Makes you wonder, though, just how many big beefy security guys are standing in the wings).

I didn't know who Carol was either and it was bothering me all night because she looked familiar to me too! Now that I've thought about it though, I think she reminded me of Joan Collins.

The one girl that really bothered me so much that I would've like to strangle her was the black girl who had been on American Idol twice already. (She had the cap on and the long curly hair). Oh my God, the drama!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She looked like she was auditioning for a soap opera the way she kept talking and batting her eyes and making those dramatic facial expressions. "Simon, what more do you want from me? What else can I do?" You can leave the room toots, and let the next person go, that's what you can do. Then when she FINALLY walked out, she turned back to gaze at the backboard of all the previous American Idols, with this yearning look in her eyes.........oh please, shut up and go home already. Hated her.

I liked the opera girl with that funky look....she's got something about her and she gets my vote

My husband and I liked the opera girl also, she was right when se said you pick a different kind of music every week. She just might go far.

My husband kept saying the guest judge was Joan Collins, but Joan's not that young. I just couldn't figure out who it was.

We also liked the kid who's mother said "Just be yourself and have fun".

Yes!!! Rachel (the opera girl) is going to be the one to watch!! I can tell she has some "good stuff" . The guy that looked like Tyson Beckford was pretty good too!! I can't wait until they get down to the final 10.

My favorites so far are the Indian siblings, the guy who looks like Fidel Castro, and from last night, the opera girl.

The most impressive audition I've seen thus far was Melinda Doolittle, the meek background singer who auditioned in Memphis. I was blown away by her.

As for New York's auditions, I was most impressed by the guy (I think his name was Nick) who had made it to Hollywood but dropped out last year. I liked the opera girl because she had a certain moody Fiona Apple-like quality to her voice, sort of indie and not the sort of thing you see much of on this show. The Canadian girl who had met all those heads of state when she was younger was really good too but I'm forgetting her name. There was something equally awkward and intoxicating about the blonde "Rocky" girl who sang the Mary J. Blige song. The Tyson Beckford lookalike did NOT look 16 years old at all. Paula and Carole looked to be gettin' their inner Letourneau on with that boy.

I felt really bad for that girl Nakia who sang "Dancing In The Streets". True, the second song she sang was a mess, but she was good with the first song and just had such a great personality, that to see her in tears, going from the highest of highs all smiles and laughs, to the lowest of lows, crying and in shock as she collapses into a hug with her mother outside of the doors and talking about constantly being rejected; that was nearly enough to make me cry. Wait, did I say "cry"? I forgot, I'm a dude, so uh, I mean, nearly enough to make me take a sudden trip to the bathroom as I rub my eyes and say "oh, uh, a bug must've flown into my eye; I'll be right back" or something.

I see nothing wrong with a man showing his emotions, to me it means he has feelings and a kind heart. I say you can cry on my shoulder anytime you wish.
