Yeah, i liked the couple too! I'm glad a lady can still love a guy with a bus pass!
Is it me or did the guy from the couple looked stoned?!

I too thought the old man was sweet. I was just crying from the previews leading up to him coming on, because I was imagining something worse than what it really was. All I had heard him say, in the previews, was "...she died 2 days before the audition", and I had thought the situation was going to be that his grand-daughter was to be on american idol to try out, and SHE was the one who died two days before the audition, and he was there to sing her song....so of course the thought of that, I was sobbing. yes, it was sad when I found out the real situation, but I think my imagined one was worse
I was VERY suprised when the girl who save "soemthing to talk about" on the first night in Birmingham, I believe, did not make it. She was the one whose family didn't think she had any talent. I have a DVR, and once they turned her down, I had to rewind it just to make sure I wasn't incorrect in thinking she was good. i still thought she was good, and better than some they put through.
My favorites:
*the guy that had the scraggly beard, on one of the first try-outs, a little heavyset, who sang blue-sy, who had a famous singing dad
*the fat one with the curly hair from the other night
*the backup singer
*opera lady
*the 16 year old black kid who looked gorgeous
and I forget anyone else!

Just watched the show, I liked the 16 year old girl from Krum, Texas Baily Brown, I think she will be right up there as one of the new young singers like Hannah Montana. She will even get better as the show goes on. Go Baily!!!!!!!!!

I liked Bailie too. I am guessing that unless she totally melts down in Hollywood we will be seeing her in the finals.

Meh. Another so-so week for me. I really liked the last guy that Simon called "a fun Ruben". I'm not really sure why considering he didn't even have the greatest voice of all those that tryed out. Not to sound too cliche, but there was just something about him, an "it" factor that I couldn't put my finger on that I liked. Yet again though, only a few hours after it ended, I'm forgetting most of the contestants.
I'm looking forward to getting on with the better singers in the coming weeks.

I liked him too. He has something....just untrained and doesn't yet have total control of his voice, but when he hits it, he hits it.
I liked that girl they called back. I thought it was a mistake to show her the door, and I liked what they criticized about her...her facial expressions, etc. She had character and personality show through and it made her unique, plus...she can sing! She was also gracious and polite, even though she was crushed, when they told her no the first time. She has class.
When Paula and Randy said no...I thought..huh? This time Simon was right for sure by saying yes. I'm glad she performed again and they all put her through. I also continue to think her facial expressions are an asset, not a liability.
I thought Birmingham and San Antonio have proven to be the best cities so far for finding talent!
I'm always shocked by how nasty rejected people get!

I actually like the black guy whose cousin came in first-the one dressed in all blue, and he couldn't sing for crap. And then the blue guy's cousin came in and COULD sing, and I think since I wasn't expecting him to sing well, and when he did, that amde me like him. Rueben guy was good too.

I'm such a horrible person!!! I missed it last night! My husband had to pick up his "new" van in Staten Island and guess who got to drive him?! Then we had to go to my mother-in-law's for her b-day and got home after it was over....I'm very upset because now I feel completely out of the loop. How was it last night? Where were they, who was good, who was bad...who was insane?! Oh, and which Rx's was Paula on?

Okay, here are my comments from last night's episode... and please excuse my horrible descriptions of the contestants, but I don't remember any names! Ones I liked were the 2nd cousin, the "nice Ruben", the girl from the horse ranch (ah, I see her name was Bailie Brown), and the girl who got a second chance. Not too many funny ones last night, just some bad voices... kind of a dull episode, in my opinion.
And to answer pixie's question about Paula, I'd say her pick last night was Xanex... she just seemed a bit too mellow, LOL.
