I liked it for the most part---but a lot of this season really seemed to be more of a set up for whatever is to come. It didn't seem like a self-contained story like last season.

What I did like is that they didn't make a conflict with another gang to be the entire focus. The other cartel was a threat, but it was only one element of the story. They've already done the "Sons vs. rival gang" storyline and I hope they don't fall back into that, otherwise it becomes too much like a comic book where there's a new enemy every issue. Most of the conflict this time was within the club itself.
I'm hoping the issue with the Niners will kind of be like the rival cartel was, something they have to worry about but not the primary focus.

But it does kind of feel unfinished this time around, and it will be frustrating to have to wait until next fall. I thought the new characters they introduced were really strong---I wish they would keep Lincoln Potter but it seems pretty obvious his story has ran its course.

Forgot to mention, I've been wondering about the prospects too, especially Filthy Phil. Shouldn't they be patched by now? I know both he and the ratty-looking guy have already had to shoot at people for the club.

They might be close. Half Sack was a prospect for the first two full seasons and we dont know how long before that. It takes some time before you get patched but they are probably going to need the bodies.
