Meh. I wasn't really digging the ladies all that much tonight. There wasn't as much luster. Melinda was the only one that I thought was heads above the rest. That's two weeks in a row now. I love her and already want her to win. Nipping at her heels of course is Lakisha. I think they're both the frontrunners in this competition but I thought Lakisha's performance was almost a bit too understated tonight, but it was still one of the best ones.
The other three divas of last week, Stephanie, Sabrina and Jordin, I thought all faltered a bit. The pipes are there, but it just wasn't as fantastic as the week before. Jordin was bit off in parts, Sabrina was shouting a bit, and Stephanie was singing ahead of pace (and I actually thought didn't really sound all that good until the very end).
I actually really liked Leslie (redhead) until she dissolved into that weird scatting routine.
I'm a bit puzzled by the reaction to Gina, both by the judges and by Gina herself. I didn't think she sounded that good this week or last week but she and the judges (minus Simon) seem to think otherwise. I'm also trying to figure out who it is she reminds me of. I feel like I recognize her from some place but can't picture where. Maybe we used to date?
I thought Antonella was even worse than last week. I was confused when she said that she learned her lesson about song choice last week, and this week was going to be "more me" only to come out and again, sing a schmaltzy well-known ballad. She sounded horrible. She won't be going anywhere though in my opinion.
I think Antonella and Alaina should be the ones going home but it will most likely be Alaina and Haley; both nice girls and decent singers but just getting lost in the mix. I also have a sneaking suspicion that one of the really talented girls, either Sabrina, Stephanie or Jordin, is going to get cut before the Top 12. Just a feeling I have.

there are two different contests going on with the women. there is the outstanding group and the mediocre group.
outstanding: LaKisha, Melinda, Jordin, Stephanie, Sabrina
mediocre: all the rest except antonella who is the worst of them all.
all five of the aforementioned women will have big careers if they want them and are handled correctly, american idol winner or not.
melinda did indeed impress me tonight again, and i do think simon nailed her appeal. she's a genuinely nice woman with a terrific voice and her time is now.
sabrina - she truly belted that song out tonight.
can't wait to see how people voted.
i still think the guys are snoozers but continue to just love chris sligh whose intelligence and wit and personality beg for a tv show of his own. he won't win american idol but i hope to heck he gets some kind of career out of this.

Well, last night was different from last week. I thought all of the girls were better last week. The only one who still WOWED me was Melinda (back up singer, black). Now Lakisha was good...but I guess since I am used to her belting, that is what I expect. Antonella was better, but still sucked. While I think that the girls have more talent, I think the boys idd better last week. Probably because they had room to improve...and did. The girls did so great last week that our expectations were even higher-which isn't too fair.
Who I think should go home: Antonella (again) and either Haley (Queen of the Night girl) or Elaina (I don't even remember what she sang!)
Who probably will go home: Dog walker girl and either Haley or Elaina.
For hte preson who said Chris Sligh will not win: At this early of a stage, I didn't predict Taylor Hicks to win! And he did! So who knows!

I think Antonella had the worst performance.
How did she make it to Hollywood? They keep saying , You sound "bad" but you look "good".

Best performance last night.
Who will go home? I think Antonella and it is a toss up between Haley and Alaina?

My prediction is...
That the next time it's on, my girlfriend will insist on watching it, and I'll make sure I get the newspaper that day.

I think the boys were boring again, though for the most part, improved. I still don't feel like any particular PERFORMANCE stood out, but there are definitely stand-out personalities - ie CHRIS SLIGH!
In my opinion the girls on average were better this week, except for Lakisha who was still great but not as much as a stand-out as Melinda - I honestly think she will be in the top three at least!
Worst performances... I think I'm in agreement here with everyone! Sanjaya and Antonella, no doubt! Kind of a crapshoot which of the "bottom" group will go home with them.

Well, well, well. I'm really starting to wonder if that "vote for the worst" site is having an impact.
Alaina and the forgettable guy (see, I already forgot his name) I agree with. But AJ??? He was GOOD!
Even Sanjaya looked embarassed and shocked not to be going home... what's going on? And although Lesley wasn't the best, she most certainly wasn't the one who deserved to go home if SINGING is the judging point!
All I can say is OUCH!! I'm ticked off! I know they probably wouldn't have made it to the final 3 or 4, but I don't see why the no-talents get more exposure than them. Every show is an opportunity, and I think these two got robbed.

yeah, me too. i haven't even been to votefortheworst site but i do think it must be keeping antonella there - i mean listening to leslie belt out her farewell song was INFINITELY better than the meh antonella. leslie at least had a smoky voice with a sign of life inside her soul.
however, it's all about the voting, i guess. though american idol has never revealed statistics EVER on how many votes each singer gets.
BUT that being said my favorites are still there and that's what counts for me. right now it's all about being frustrated that the worst singers NEED to go but aren't (well, some of them are...LOL).
no way a.j. needed to go, either.
ah, well - onward to next week!

Darn, poor AJ. I did call the people who would go home-except for AJ. He had a MUCH better voice, and put on a much better performance than a couple of guys. It really should be that Sanja or whatever kid.
It has to be that website vote for the worst. Maybe we should go on there and vote for hte best of the worst-just to keep them on there and get rid of the actually worse!!!!
Next week 2 more girls have to go-and it has to be Antonella and Haley (Queen of the Night). Every other girl is great (unless I am forgetting one). And Sanja has to go too!
