American Idol - predictions? (contract, channel, annoying, show)

Well, last night didn't completely blow me out of the water...except for Melinda. Every week she is the WOW factor. I even think better than Lakisha, and at this point, I think she should win...but it should come down to her and Lakisha at the finale...unless some people improve (like that one year where Kimberly Locke improved enough to get in the top 3).

Yes, Antonella was the best thing week than ever, but it is a singing competition and she is out of her league against the other competition.

I really want Melinda to win this season. If she doesn't make it to the final two, I will never watch AI again (even though I've been saying that for the last couple of years with other contestants ). I think they should do away with the equal opportunity voting scheme. Just let America decide on who's the best. I'm convinced that there would be at least 8 girls in the final 12 if they just went with the lowest votes period.

Lakesha and Melinda are my votes for best singers on AI. Lakesha has an amazing voice, absolutely powerful and great range. She's amazing.
Melinda is by a hair's width my favorite though. I think that woman is an incredibly rare talent. I think Melinda will be the American Idol. Though it doesn't matter really between Lakesha and Melinda. Both will go on to great careers. Both are exceptional talents.

Antonella, Hailey, Sanjaya, Sundance

Who I think will likely go home:
Hailey, possibly Gina or Stephanie, Sundance, Phil

but who knows??? It'll be interesting to see. Melinda is my pick to take the whole thing. I think the boy who will go furthest is Blake.

So we have our Top 12. Thoughts?

As a whole, I don't think the Top 12 is as strong as in years past. If I had to guess right now, I'd say the top six will be Melinda, Lakisha, Blake, Chris #1, Chris #2, and maybe....Gina? Or Jordin? Or Sanjaya? Not sure.

I was slightly surprised by tonight's results. I'm not surprised Jared left. Sundance was a bit of a surprise since he had the "backing" of Vote For The Worst, which is usually good at keeping contestants in for awhile. I think he was one of the worst the first week, decent the second week, and not that good this past week, so I'm not sad to see him go. As for the ladies, well I thought Haley was a shoo-in to go home so that was a surprise. Part of me thinks that the judges were almost TOO mean to her, particularly Simon's quick but incredibly biting comment about not even knowing her name, and it created sympathy from voters. I know that I felt bad for her, although I didn't vote for her (I didn't vote for anyone). As I said earlier, I knew either Stephanie or Sabrina would be going home. It's disappointing but not surprising. I am very surprised that Antonella got booted as well. I figured that all the controversy and her fans would keep her in at least for another few weeks. I guess that's bad news for Sanjaya as now all the "bad singer" scorn will be focused on him since up til now, Antonella, and to a lesser extent Sundance, have taken the brunt of criticism.

About time Antonella went home, though I am surprised it was her out of her and Haley. Their the two worst singers, but I thought Antonella had the guy vote.

I did call Sabrina too...but it really should have been Haley.

Guys-no surprise with Jared. A little surprise with Sundance; I did think it was his worse performace...but i thought he would have had more support than Phil.

I too think this is one of the weakest top 12. Even Blake who I like...is not as good as other contestants from other years.

I take offense at your use of the term "gay boy!" I do agree that he should not still be in the competition.
Remember, no matter what Simon or Randy states this is NOT a singing competition!! As long as the public is doing the voting it is a popularity contest. A true test of vocal talent would be done by a panel of vocalists and vocal teachers and then not visually. The contestants would be behind a wall. Also, before America does the voting the panel is two-thirds music producers who are looking for sales. Vocal quality, ha! Taylor Hicks behind a wall would have completely struck out!
