I love shows like Lost, Dexter, X-files, etc., and wonder what the thought process is in creating these gems. Do they dream it up, or does it just come naturally?

Have you've ever thought of a really great idea for a show, but not sure if anyone would be interested - except you, of course?

My show would be a Bladerunner/Firelfy/Dexteresque drama. A futuristic cop who chases down androids gone bad, and one inparticular - a serial killer that slices and dices his way from solar system to solar sytem. Of course, it would have to be on Showtime and I'd probably be the only one watching.

What's yours?

I'd like a show about a Civil unrest in America.. Us versus the Govt.

It would show people uniting against oppression.. kind of like a futuristic Running Man type but w/o the game show

Ooo, I love those - especially the running man idea.

Well, in the case of the X-Files, it was the brainchild of Chris Carter. With LOST, it was the creation of J.J. Abrams and a few other brilliant and creative minds. Dexter, unless I'm mistaken, is based on a novel.

Conclusion: Great stories come from great storytellers. They don't come from network focus groups and marketing strategies.

I'd watch it! Except I don't have Showtime.

I have like 8 abandoned tv show ideas and 1 which I won't mention not before I try to pitch it to a real producers. I'm too paranoied that it might be stolen or something. It's sounds like any other person would say about their ideas but this one is really crazy.
It's not as genius as LOST, of course (love LOST) but when it is taken by a producer then lots of things will definetly be changed.
The show is seriazlised drama, one big event thru the end of the show (like LOST, HEROES; Prison Break etc. have)

Although, good ideas everybody
