Whatever happen to Melissa, the blonde Mom, from the "new Food Network stars"?
She had a few shows on Sundays at noon when most folks would be at church or afternoon activities with family. They probably just did those to fulfill their obligation for the show she won. Unfair eh?

It is unfair but was she promised a certain slot---evenings, etc.?
One thing I notice about the Food Network is that all of the producers (I've never been a producer, I'm just conjecturing) seem to come from one Cooking Show Producer Kollege.
They all appear to think that after any dish is finished, the host MUST turn to the camera, take a teeny-tiny bite off the end of a fork/spoon and roll his/her eyes into an orgasmic swoon.
The only exceptions I've seen are Mario Batali and Emeril. Maybe they have their own producers.
a lot of food network producers & directors actually come from a background in porn. no lie. there is certainly a similarity to the way food shows and porn are shot.

seconded. i don't know how anyone could dislike alton brown. i guess the weird goofy npr vibe of his show might turn some people off, but not me! i like nigella lawson too, even though she's pretty over the top with the food/porn thing, and i don't think she's ever made a single thing i can eat (i'm vegan). i don't know what channel her show is on anymore though - is it still on at all?
i like the concept of diners drive ins and dives but i really can't stand guy fieri's personality. he comes across as a nice guy, but i just don't like his over the top presentation. plus he's from pittsburgh (where i am from) so he's blown the lid off of a disproportionate number of lesser known restaurants here. it's good for the restaurants so i can't complain much, but for instance i can never get a seat at what used to be my favorite lunch place cause now it's full of people who saw it on the food network.

Actually he was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California. He talks about that pretty much every time triple D is in CA lol
Bobby Flay annoys me. He needs a new personality and needs to chill. His show "Throwdown" seems like he's trying to get an ego boost and it just annoys me.
I think Paula Dean is irritating. 1st of all, she uses way too much fat like butter yuck! 2nd, her voice is too southern like she tries too hard to bring it out.
Rachel Ray-I just can't take that voice but she's fun to look at.
Alton Brown is one of my favorites.
Guy Fieri - seems like a cool guy and his show "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" is great but he has this personality like he's trying too hard to be cool. He goes over the top and the laid back, stoner, bro look he's got going on makes him seem unprofessional.

really? weird. i confess i haven't watched his show all that much. he seems to have some kind of connection to pittsburgh though - i think he mentioned having family from here or something.
i agree with you that he comes across as trying way too hard. it's unfortunate. but i guess he's doing ok for himself, so what do i know!
Hopefully, Aarti, the Next Food Network Star, will bring some humble pie to the channel as she was pretty down to earth during this past season. She's just gotta work on her confidence.
I don't regularly watch any of the other Food Network shows, but I do like the Barefoot Contessa. She seems down to earth. I also like Giada....she's like the happiest person on Earth! Also like Aaron McCargo, another Next Food Network star. I've seen his show a couple of times and he always has been appealing and down to earth, in my opinion.
