Food Network "Celebs" ~ Love Em or Hate Em ?
I occasionally watch Food Network for recipes, and there are a few of the hosts and hostesses that grate on my last nerve :
Bobby Flay - arrogant
Paula Deen - just plain irritating with her over done accent
Sandra Lee - what a lush, and her cooking is a joke
And last but certainly not least,
Rachel Ray. I can't stand her babbling and her made up vocabulary.

See my post "Rachel Ray love her or hate her" I was not part of the love her sensus. I agree with you, Paula Deen and her son's now are way over-exposed. The Neeley's get on my nerves with their huggie, kissy crap and the list goes on................

I don't like the food network all that well and "food stars" I can take or leave.

I like Ted Allen. I wonder if his new show is a ripoff of Top Chef?

I like Ted Allen and Alton Brown.
I like Rachels shows but her voice gets on my nerves and Paula Deens accent is too much 'yall' and annoying. I can understand saying yall but she says it way too much. She needs to take a speech class and give up the accent.
I also like Guy Fieri and the way he presents himself.

I love Bobby Flay I don't think he's arrogant at all, just confident. As for Paula Deen-good grief. I thought there was some certain criteria that had to be met before you could call yourself a chef. Isn't there? Anyway, her and her deep fried bacon balls and butter soup style of cooking makes me kind of shudder~you have to try to be a little bit healthy, come ON!

Well, to me it's a TV channel and that means it should be entertaining. I think Paula Deen and her family show are very entertaining and fun to watch.

Been debating whether to post this issue but since you started it I am going to reply in your thread.
Disclaimer: Normally I do not comment on how people look and never expect them to be perfect like the rest of the world seems everybody should be. But.............
Take a gander at the front covers of Good Housekeeping magazine May 2008 and Dec 2008, Ladies Home Journal Oct. 2007 and Nov. 2008 of Paula Deen. In the LHJ covers her teeth look natural, aged/darkened with time and small imperfections; in the GH covers they look like to big of perfect shaped dentures! The May issue of GH has her upper teeth bright white with her lower teeth yellowed with age, small spaces in between. Now look at Dec. 2008 GH cover............................. bright, bright white uppers and lowers no longer the little gaps in her lower teeth. She has on a Santa's hat and 1960's frosted white/blue eyeshadow with a pound of mascara & eye liner. She looks hideous I am telling you.
This woman has a lot to be proud of coming from a struggling single mom raising boys the best she could. Why after 60+ years does she need bright white teeth, fake eyelashes or at least made up to look that way and lose the natural beauty she carried? I respected that she wore her gray/silver hair with pride when she first came onto the scene.
I hate that everybody thinks we all (society) have to be glamour perfect especially celebs or they are criticized by the public.

mmm, deep fried bacon balls and butter soup! I have to look up that one!
I am in the Rachel Ray fan camp myself. I think a lot of these chefs have amped up their personality too much. Flay is the only one who seems kind of understated. Thank goodness that the whole BAM! era is over though.

With a few exceptions, the ones I like are either dead or no longer on TV. Or British.
Exceptions are A. Brown and Batali.
