I stopped watching after 20 minutes. If I were his wife, I would be humiliated, and probably start divorce proceedings.

The wife from the "podunk" town had more class than the Brit guy has in his little finger. He should be embarrased that he represented himself that way on television. He should be kicked off his boards and fired from his job for proving that he has no class and lacks the ability to treat other human beings with the kindness and respect they deserve.

Default ok, so you guys had me intrigued

I had never watched this show so have nothing to compare it to; but saw some of your postings about it and it came on later here so I just watched it.
OMG That guy was a jerk. Well both guys were but at least Missouri guy came around eventually. But skirt work?? My hubby wouldn't be around after that so Missouri wife needed to have nipped that in the bud from the get go. And yes the Missouri couple were not educated in the art of the English language nor on health concious issues. Both families were a bit dysfunctional but I can see how California couple have goals for their children and healthy living isn't too hard if one is raised to be aware of such. But for Ca. guy to be so aggressively hostile and to belittle Mo. mom in such a way--and in front of the children just blew me away. What did that actually teach them? To be snobs, to look down on others?
Ok, I'm officially blown away.

I saw the comments here so I watched the show. WOW I was shocked. The CA father is setting a poor example for his children, which is very sad. I hope his wife watches the episode and realizes how that behavior is rubbing off on their children. At the end of the show, their little girl made a comment that her dad must have fed to her. That comment said it all.

My son's an actor and I'm in the music business. I've known a few very rich people, some geniuses, and lots of wildly successful people. I have never seen ANY of them treat another human being like this jerk treated the Missouri wife. Ever.

I don't care who you are, what you know, own or earn- it's never okay to humiliate someone like this. I hope he AND his wife both watched this and thought twice about their behavior. Disgusting. Those poor kids, growing up in a house where this is the norm.....

I think good manners and trying to not humiliate others goes for anywhere, anytime;including message boards too...........anyway--both families have a lot of issues that need to be addressed. Missouri dad was way up into Ca. mom's face and I too thought he might hit her. He seemed capable of doing so. Both are dysfunctional families; just in different ways.
Missouri dad showed disrespect and allowed his sons to do so towards Ca. mom on several occasions. California dad did the same. Both are guilty of exhibiting disturbing behavior in front of their children, then drawing the children into it.
One could analyze these families forever and not figure them out.

For all of the Californian wife's "intelligence", didn't it occur to her that some of her clients might see the show? I know I would drop her like a bad habit after I saw that.

We saw the last 15 minutes of this show last night w/ the entire time dh telling me to find something else on.

If brit guy had ANY class in him he would have KNOWN:
1. NEVER say words like that to ANYONE!
2. People w/ REAL class don't sit with their FOOT ON THE CHAIR like he did at the table at the end. I'd kick him out of my house if he sat on my furniture like THAT. Especially with SHOES ON!
3. Would INSIST that his children treat OTHERS w/ respect no matter what.
4. Would treat others no matter how different with respect.

Arrogance has NO signs of class or intellect whatsoever. You could tell his wife was a wee bit embarrased by what he said when she put her head down and in her hand. She SHOULD have apologized herself. At least the MO family TRIED to learn new ways. The CA family w/ the arrogant sob father was NEVER intent on trying anything new that was NOT of their liking PERIOD! Why were they even on the show to begin with?

I watch that show. What is it with the ones who don't seem to understand what the words "rules change" means??? Seems like every other show you get some clown who's all "How dare you!! We don't do things that way here!"

I felt sorry for the 2 little kids, they were so influenced by him in being rude to the gal from MO etc. And I wasn't happy w/ his wife who seemed to 'go w/ the flow' w/ her wonderful husband (ahem!) - maybe later she spoke to him, away from the cameras, who knows. I was definitely not impressed w/ him, I thought the gal from MO showed remarkable restraint.

Does anyone know about the show that used to be on that was similar to this except that the other family would give the family they visited a certain amount of money and tell them what to do w/ it (ie, home improvements, a trip, college education for their kids, a car etc) - ? I can't remember the name of it now but it started about the same time Wife Swap started.
