Granted the British guy did act like a jerk off in front of his kids - that is a "no no".

Oh because you dont like someone that is an excuse to be rude and to be a pompous as* to someone ? I dont think so . People like him (the brit ) need to have a good ole fashioned lesson in compassion and humility . see I use big words too but I have manners and compassion and humility and have taught my children the same thing . All this man is teaching his children is that they are better than anyone else . I pity their poor teachers having to deal with this man . He is arrogant ,rude and a pompous jerk . If he and his wife dont like it in san francisco or this country he knows how to get back to the uk . Or maybe the uk does not want him back .

Oh sure I agree with all that. But it's not the point. The point is that his behavior was disgusting towards her. He could have encouraged her to look at the world a little differently. Instead he seemed to positively relish having someone he could verbally abuse. I think it was the way he would smile and congratulate himself on his own brilliance that was especially sickening.
I also agree that the mid west husband was a piece of work. I didn't like any of them in that episode. But the Brit stood out as when of the most unpleasant , arrogant and downright cruel people that I have ever seen on the show. The last poster is right - Britain doesn't want him back!!

He did miss the opportunity for many teachable moments. Instead of simply living well and modeling a household that does value education and health - he instead used his energy to put her down. That is correct and that is where he really missed the boat.

Not only did he miss the boat, he sank the fleet! Now he's having to deal with the consequences. My guess is that he will either think about his actions and decide he took it too far, OR (more likely), he'll become even more convinced that he was right all along, and that the people who are contacting him are all idiots. I'm betting on the second, because he really didn't seem very self aware for a supposedly intelligent person.

it's still on and so far I am shocked and dismayed at the homeschooling parents. They do not properly represent those of us who homeschool or homeschooled their children and took it very seriously!

I was very happy to see the very busy and focused on education family learn to take the time to appreciate one another.
No school and home school are worlds apart. I homeschooled my children and there was structure and socialization, testing and tutors. My children went on to excel in college. I hope the authorities in that families town check in on them to make sure they have lesson plans that are followed. The children are only learning to do what they want, when they want and are lazy. No fair to the children.

Yes, DreamWeavin, no school and home school are very different. I'm familiar with homeschooling and its benefits, especially when supplemented with socialization activities, sports/hobbies, and testing. This episode made me wonder if the producers had their own agenda, by showing almost polar opposites.
One family is very focused on public school education plus extracurricular activities (to the point of the kids' near exhaustion) and the other family so "hands off" when it comes to teaching basic skills that the kids were illiterate and unable to do simple math, and they both had the emotional and vocal expressions of 3-year olds. I felt so bad for those little boys. Their parents came across as unfocused, lazy nutters.

Welp, you saw why there are lobbyists out there trying to ban home-schooling. I think there are more than just a few more bad apples ruining it for everyone else, although most are not like that.
I agree with the comment made about running the children into exhaustion. I've known parents who do this, not necessarily all homework but activities. They'd spend all their time taxing their children to so many extra-cirricular activities that the kids never spent any quiet time at home. And, yes, I think that's crazy. It always gave me the impression that spending time in the house was a Cardinal Sin to them.
Steven Fowler struck me as an over-driving sort with the education.
