The Mentalist
"The Mentalist" is being pushed a lot in the UK at the moment ( about to start soon) and I was wondering whether it is worthwhile watching ?
Any comments welcome.

I love it. It's clever, and of course the main character isn't hard to look at!

Thanks. I think he is Australian ( Tasmania I believe) ! I will try to catch it. The previews show you very little so it is hard to make up your mind.

Ive been watching the show, its good, sort of a take on USA's "Psych" except here they know he used to con people, and he's just using "reading people" The details are good to pick up on, if you like that kind of thing. The cases so far are varied enough that it hasn't gotten redone. Probably last 2 maybe 3 seasons.

The US version is "based" on the UK's version of "The Mentalist" so I don't know if they would be exactly the same but I love the US version! Simon Baker is not too hard to look at either. I find the show witty and well written. Not too much violence and I love how the team of agents interact with each other. I give it two thumbs up.

It seems Simon Baker is very popular !
If it's a bit off-beat I will probably like it.

I saw the opening episode and it was a good show. I just never took time to watch any more.

I've liked the shows I've seen so far. I was wondering if anyone had seen The Guardian, and can give me the lowdown on that show.

I was giving it a try when it first started here and then lost track of when it was on. The few shows I saw were entertaining enough but had already started to be a bit formulaic.
Simon Baker is impish and charming - very engaging. The dark haired female cop who works with him, though, is stiff as a board and totally affected - IMO (not just her character but her acting - have seen her in other stuff and she is wooden).
The good thing is that it's easy to pick up on the dynamic between the main characters. So, you can see shows on a one-off basis and enjoy them for what they are without having to follow the entire series.
