This creeps me out. Don't men like long hair because it's a turn-on?

I have a feeling that in the Duggars' case, it means more that Dad approves of long hair and finds it appropriate for females. Several very conservative Christian sects don't believe in cutting hair at all (for women). I think it fits into Jim Bob's beliefs that women not wear pants, have long hair and have a kazillion kids. That is why God placed them here. I don't think he sees it as a sexual turn on necessarily but more of a continuation of the "modesty" they promote. I do agree that it sometimes seems a bit..."off"....but I don't think they are thinking of it as a sexual thing.

First of all where did I judge them. I said that I think they are doing this show based on the fact they are witness to their faith. They haven't stopped renting out houses or whatever they do. Jon and Kate market the family every chance they get. The other families are not on every talk show selling a book or taking a trip every show. I have no idea how the other poster said I was judging them. The Duggars do have a nice home which they started building them self. THe Rohloffs have a nice home and I saw pictures that they showed of that house when they moved in. I do not think that the other families are like Jon and Kate that was the question and from what I have seen that is what I think.

I don't think it is so easy to compare at this point. Maybe compare the first season of J&K + 8. with this family. but only if that cannot be done without viewing them in terms of all the "knowledge" we have been given through all of the second hand sources.
Maybe compare after several seasons of the other show, but to compare now seems a bit unfair.
And I don't think either family is in it for other than what they can gain from the exposure.

Kate is a money hungry, big headed diva that needs to put her children first rather than the almighty dollar.
The Duggars seem like very nice people, although I find them a little strange at times.

I find them a LOT strange, but the parents seem to function as a team. It's no life I'd want to live, but if it works for them, then well done!
If Jon and Kate can find their way back to that place of "us against the world", or "it's a crazy life, but it's OUR life" perspective, then maybe they will make it too. We can hope....

you are judging kate gosslein--could it be that you are more harsh towards her cause she seems to have the material perks you want and is more outspoken----and you seem less threatened by the submissive(or so it appears ) mrs d

I don't think you sound any more judgmental than anyone else posting on this forum. The whole point of a forum is to express differing opinions and discuss them. On this one, we are expressing opinions of people, so if that is judgmental, then I guess we all are.

How about a crossover show where the Duggars help to counsel Jon and Kate to try and save their marriage?

Maybe I could defend myself if I had any clue to this judgemental stuff. If you think this or the other post is someplace that we who watch the show don't come away with op-ions you are in the wrong place. I judge from what I see. They choose to put them self on TV so they will be judged on who they are, what they say and how they act. They are not acting this is a reality show. Actually I 'm not jealous of Jon and Kate or what they have because it has cost them more than it was worth. I 'm the kind of person who day dreams about winning a lottery like many do, but wouldn't want it to be the big one. It is one thing to get the perks but Jon and Kate have really shoved them at the viewer. I did watch the show from the beginning and I have seen huge changes. I don't like Kate because I don't like the way she treats people which if you watch the show isn't judgement it is just there to see. You can't comment on the poster question without sharing your thoughts. Right now I 'm really starting to think that NO children should be in these kinds of shows anymore without laws to protect them. That includes the Duggars, Rohloff and all the others.
