After watching the show I am actually shocked to see all the boys trying. Well except for Farrah's babies daddy but that's she kept the kid away. I read somewhere that he ended up being killed in a car accident.
Me personally I am all for spaying and neutering at birth then having it reversed once you are 18.

America is not ready for education on birth control. Don't you know that it will just promote more teenagers having sex and having babies?
Don't even get me started

Unless you live in a hole, sex ed is out there. Always has been.
Handing out condoms and birth control pills without parental approval or knowledge of is the issue.
Schools can barely teach the ABC's so kids should get their birth contol from the same institution?
Not like schools can grade kids on usage of condoms or bc pills and get a grade for not getting knocked up or not knocking some chick up. Kids are kids. If it feels good for the moment they don't have the ability to realize the consequences...which, every time, could be a BABY. Not a re-do of poly-sci in summer school.
I'm taping all these 16 and pregnant episodes and filing them away so I can show my kids, when the are old enough, how the hot chick isn't so hot when she's pregnant and has a baby...and you aren't so cool when you're a daddy at 17.

I would hate for it to glamorize pregnancy or make a girl think, "Oh, that one girl was just a whiny baby. Being a mom isn't THAT hard."

Haven't seen more than 3 shows but each one seem to glamorize the pregnancy. Have yet to see one where the teen mommy is laid up in bed for 6 months with previa or a bleed or eclampsia. This show needs to follow up a year after...and see where the teens are. At 4 months babies tend to still sleep the day away...it get's a lot harder when those babies get older and aren't passing out after every feeding.

I finally watched a bunch of these episodes yesterday on a "marathon".....I don't usually bother with MTV at this point in my life....I will say, I do not think they glamorized teen pregnancy. Most of the relationships did NOT work out -even in the short term. The guys might have been stand up in the beginning but as soon as it required real commitment and sacrifice they were out with the guys. The young girls ended up being the ones to make the sacrifice. I did find it interesting that the girls (specifically Farrah) were irritated at their own mom's for being "in their business" and not supportive but yet it didn't faze them in the least that they were living in their parent's home, eating their food etc etc. My DD is older but I did watch it with my DS (15) - I think it is just as important for the boys to be involved with real life as the girls.....

I have watched this on and off, and I think that MTV did a good job of showing the hard work and stress involved in having a baby. I didn't see a lot of 'glamorization'. I was really touched by how naive some of these girls are, and I'm sad for their babies.

I don't think it was glamorized at all. The last episode features the baby being given up for adoption, and the parents are having a tough time saying goodbye.
I can't even imagine doing something like that. If I had planned on putting my child up for adoption I would have changed my mind shortly after birth.
If she goes through with it, she is a much stronger woman than I am.

Farrah got on my damn nerves - I really wanted to reach through the tv and shake her ass. I was glad they showed that one girl having a hard labor (Amber?) I think ABC Family is painting the picture that having a baby is something you do in between text messages and smoothies I did feel sorry go for the girl who couldn't go to the Air Force but oh well that's what happens

I felt sorry for her too - she seemed like a bright girl but her BF ....200+ unexcused absences? And he was PO'd at his parents??? How do you just "miss" 200 classes, knowing you have a baby on the way and think it's all going to work out fine?

Every time her mother reminded her that she was pregnant and should be focusing on other things besides boys and having fun, she started bitching about how controlling her mom was. Then she had the nerve to completely disrespect her because her mother wouldn't buy her a car. MTV even typed the synopsis describing her as the "overbearing" mother and how Farrah wanted to be out on her own.
If I would have been her mother, the show would have been a real eye opener for teenage girls because she would have been working at night and I would have taken $100 out of her check each week for room & board, made her buy her own food & clothing, and charged her for any childcare that I did involuntarily. Then we would have seen how eager she was to be "out on her own".

Do you know what happened to the father? I never saw the whole episode. I think the show does point out that babies dont keep men around, babies make you have to quit all your extracurricular activities, babies keep u up all nite(you not your mom, watch your own baby at nite). Too many of these young girls think its fun to dress the baby but they are not thinking about that money will take away from the stuff they used to get. "mom can I get new shoes? No the baby needs diapers." I have saw this first hand and it is an eye opener for the teen. And if the guy does stick around that doesnt mean he is going to help out. He will still hang out with his friends while you are at home with the baby.
