Well, you might try watching it or at least reading the posts then....that is pretty much what this show does....maybe not 2 years but through the pregancy and into the first year.

I just don't care to watch it. Why they even entertain putting such garbage on TV I just don't understand. Teenage pregnancy had been on the decline prior to the show. IMHO, I don't anything good will come out of the show.

Then why post an opinion on something you have no interest in watching? Since obviously you have no idea what it's really about, it seems a bit odd to offer a comment. I think it does a pretty decent job of "un-glamorizing" it - and on a channel that the kids actually watch. Putting an abstinance lecture on Lifetime wouldn't reach these kids - showing real situations on MTV might influence a few to think a bit harder about their choices.

It would be nice to see them show the parents when the kids get to the age were they learn some scary words like NO and MINE. My daughter is almost 2 and I would say it's tougher raising her right now then when she just ate and pooped. I would like to see follow up episodes of all the girls and their kids in a year.

I agree - in fact I looked on MTV's website to see if they had any follow-ups but I didn't see anything.....you know it's only going to get harder....they won't be able to live with their parents forever - they will want to date.....

maciesmom, the reason why I don't watch like I said is because it is garbage. They showed a similar show on young adults that had kids on True Life actually they documented these kids life more than once and just like I said they didn't show what happens within the year they had the kids and or any years there after and I thought the shows were also in poor taste. I doubt it did anything for kids watching it. They didn't show how hard it is to get jobs, relationships they have with the fathers if any at all, and or how really hard it is to be a parent. Like all reality shows they get you caught up in the moment and don't show the REALITY. In a way it is a show to make money however you want to see it they don't care about its viewers.

Oh, I'll add that if they did a show on MTV with teenagers having sex and think it is cute to have a baby at such a young age go and live with these pregnant teens for 2 years like they are exchange students maybe I'd watch.

I'll agree that many shows on MTV are garbage and I say that because I HAVE watched a few - enough to make an informed decision. I just think it's odd that you're proclaiming it to be "garbage" when you haven't even watched it.....Also since your first post on here said something to the effect of "what they should show is...." and once we said that pretty much IS what they show, the your tune has changed and it's "garbage"....Now you're saying if it was X then maybe you'd watch....you're just not being very consistent. Yes a lot of "reality" shows are junk. This show is really more like a documentary than a "reality" show.

mmmm, I continued to say that the show was garbage so I don't know where I changed my view point. I have watched shows on MTV and stated that I saw similar shows on MTV when they did their True Life specials. So it is not like I haven't seen MTV. This is one of those shows I will avoid. I said I might watch if they had other teenagers of the same age having sex that think having kids are cute move in with the pregnant teens. That to me is a better PSA than watching I'm having a baby with no follow ups to really show the reality of having kids at such a young age. If your watch it frequently with interest good for you but thank goodness my kids aren't old enough to watch that trash. They have another show on the CW network where I saw commercials for it where it showed a pregnant teen as well, had zero interest in watching that as well and hope people aren't letting their kids watch it. In a way it is promoting teenage pregnancy and the thought that in some way it is ok for kids to be having sex. Not into it. If you don't get it I can't explain it further than that. Use your time to rant with someone else.

Not a rant at all. I don't typically watch MTV because in fact I AGREE that a good part of what they depict is garbage. I happened to catch this show by accident and continued to watch because it was fairly interesting. I probably would never have made an effort to watch it because I would have ASSUMED that it was "garbage" (being on MTV and all) and that it glorified teen pregnancy (sound familiar?). I posted on here because I was pleasantly surprised at the show and how realistic it was (IMO obviously). My only issue with your posts is that you are passing all this judgement without ever having actually watched it. Now, if you HAD watched it and still felt it was garbage - I wouldn't have had a second thought.
