Reality TV is trash.

I am three foot six due to osteogenesis imperfecta.
I watched "Little People, Big World" for awhile and watched a couple (haha) episodes of this. I have mixed feelings.
On the one hand I think these shows are doing something good. They show little people in a way that doesn't deny their lives are different but also treats them as really human beings with strengths and foibles. I think few people are really biased against little people, but they may not know how to react to us at first. I think this kind of "breaks down walls" and allows people to better understand or empathize with people of different body shapes. It also shows, in an odd way, how really dull and ordinary many of us are. (Yeah going to the grocery store is a bit different when you're small or disabled, but it's still going to the grocery story. It may not be inherently interesting to anyone else)
Yet on the other hand they make me slightly uncomfortable. I feel like people's lives should just be their lives. That the exposure might be adding complications they probably don't need. Also turning them into media figures when they may not really be prepared or trained for that. And a general unease with a person giving up their privacy.
I think I can see someone doing a one-hour documentary, or even a limited series, but more than that I'm not sure. For myself I've thought about it, my wheelchair is expensive, but I don't think I could do it.

I think I caught an episode of this show. I saw a show where a dwarf couple had a baby and knew he didn't have his dad's form of dwarfism, but they didn't know if he had his mom's form. He was born at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, but the form of dwarfism his mom has would produce a child that size, but he would stop growing at some point. I thought the show was very interesting and it made me actually think about the limitations little people have in our society. I never thought having a baby would be so hard, but when the mom is a little person, she has a higher propensity of complications. I want to find the show again to see if they follow the child through his development, so we can see if he has his mom's form of dwarfism. The parents wanted him to be an average height because they didn't want him to go through the stuff they have to go through.

They had a marathon of the show this past weekend. I really like Jennifer, she has such a nice personality !
Regarding why people would allow themelves to be filmed, I had said something similar regarding Little People Big World on another thread. At first it seemed that Matt and Amy Roloff were doing the show to make people aware of the challenges that Little People have in every day life. But as the seasons went on, they developed the same get rich off of exploiting their family scheme just as Jon and Kate Gosselin did, and they ruined the show for me. I didn't watch last season at all.
At least with the Little Couple for now it still shows the every day things that people who do not have dwarfism take for granted every day. At least for me, it makes me think. Jennifer's attitude is great, and she's inspirational.

I saw the original episode of this show, and he was working in NYC and was "commuting" between NYC and Houston. so I'd have to say if he's still at the same job (which I believe he owned his own company), he probably doesn't do much work when he's in Houston.

I saw an episode the other day where he appears to be either working with someone or for someone; they were in Baltimore. I still haven't caught all of the episodes.

Amen ! All of those housewives are disgusting. She has been dealt a difficult hand in life, but she has a great attitude, has great manners, and more class in her little body than all of the housewives on those reality shows put together.

Would you watch these people if they were not 'little people?' Just rename it two boring people from Long Island who move to Texas who just happen to be little people. However, they are not as obnoxious as the other Little People Big World folks. I just think the Little Couple is okay...you know...like so what? She's a doctor, he's a business man. They're little, good for them.
