Oh, there are some native Atlantans that sound like that, moreso on the southside. It's a combination of southern accent, slang, lack of enunciation, and mush mouth all at the same time. I've never met anyone in the 285 perimeter or on the northside that sounds like that.
Once upon a time, I LOVED BET. I went on vacation one year and have myself on tape complaining that BET wasn't carried there. Like others, I enjoyed Donny Simpson and Sherry Carter, enjoyed a gameshow called Tell Me Something Good, and absolutely loved Teen Summit. At the time, I felt like BET really catered to my late teen/early 20s demographic positively.
I've often wondered if it's because I'm in my 30s and don't relate to what's "hip" or if things are really just that bad, because a lot of the newer music, artists, and lifestyles, aren't anything I can either relate to, understand, or even give a crap about. I can't even enjoy most of the videos anymore. I don't understand how any self respecting woman can be in them (some of them; there is a difference between sexy/provacative vs stripper-wear/acting).
So which came first, the audience demanded this crap or BET gave the audience this crap which perpetuated the demand?

And their Blackbuster premieres? Why choose a movie like Menace to Society knowing that you'll have to edit half of the movie? Especially on a Sunday?

Another BET favorite is "The Player's Club". Now they know they wrong for even trying to play that on TV knowing they have to censor out every sentence lol. "Shut the freak up" LOL
I think it's time for BET and MTV to return back to their old roots. They both have went downhill ever since they started catering more to the younger crowd with reality tv shows and lame countdowns. I think BET was officially dead once Free and AJ left 106 and Park. Rocsi and Terrance just ain't working for me lol

Me either, especially Rosci. She just sounds so uneducated, especially when she's interviewing someone who isn't young or fluent in slang. Her interview with Denzel Washington was tragic I mean it's okay to use slang and ebonics, I'd think it was odd if they all sounded like Tavis Smiley but you should have enough common sense to realize you don't talk the same way to Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise the same way you would talk to Bow Wow and Soulja Boy. And I hate the little side things like which outfit she wore is the best and pick her hairstyle -what the heck does that have to do with music videos?
Even when I was younger, I preferred TRL over 106. Carson Daly was the man.

I completely agree with Everyone here, who has seen the change for the worse in BET...
Let me tell you as someones sister who works for MTV NETWORKS
BET is Owned and run by MTV Networks its a division like MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, which is why you're seeing all the Reality Programming.
BET is NO LONGER "Black Entertainment Television" its just "BET", my sister told me their not even allowed to call it anything other then BET, MTV changed from Music Television to just "MTV" to save face.
I have no doubt that in the near future the Sunday morning programming will ceace on "BET". As ignorant as the 24/7 g-string gansta rap, and Ghetto Fab reality TV maybe, BET/MTV is raking in the dollars, how????, because your children are watching it 24/7 same with MTV and VH1 they're not trying to persude you mother and father out there, they want you're kids eyeballs, and from reading some of these replys it seems like that just who's eyeball they got...
MTV knows that young, lazy, ghetto, ingnorant blacks will eat this mess up, and they play right into their hands.

Tiny has it bad, her voice mixed with her accent is funny, every time I hear her voice I start laughing.

BET is horrible now. I miss the days when it made for some great television. Their recent awards show was a fiasco. And an embarrassment.

It really was which was sad because it was dedicated to Michael Jackson and I heard a lot of foul language during those awards.
