BET (Black Entertainment Television)
I have such low expectations for BET that they're not really expectations. I look at them the same way I look at my uncle who I know is going to show up drunk - I know he's going to do something stupid, but I keep hoping that this time he won't.
Well I've been hearing about Tiny & Toya for weeks on the radio but never really listened to the whole commercial. Tonight I was flipping through the channels and I caught a glimpse of the show.
I know reality shows are what's in right now but did they really think anyone would be interested in watching the lives of two rappers baby mama's?
I'm starting to wonder if their target audience is 14 year-old girls.

Who knows?! I watched the BET Awards and the Pre-Show I felt so old watching. I can't relate at all to the audience they're catering to. I didn't even know the rappers on the pre-show lol
I saw the commercials for Tiny and Toya..lawd. I do wanna watch Frankie and Neffe. lol! And the Mo'nique show.

natalay, I feel you. I cringe when BET is on (my 14 year old son watches). They've gotten worse over the years. They even beep out words from shows like The Game. Seriously? You're beeping out a word that was fine on another network but you're showing mostly naked girls in your videos???? WTF?

I feel the same and have been taling about this the pat few days. I couldn't even take 5 mins, of the BET awards show the other day and the shows they normally have on suck. It's as if they only cater to 22 year olds and under and people who live deep in hip hop.

BET was never really a favorite of mine, either. I do appreciate the fact that they do play more music videos than the other stations, but they are a bit raunchy. I saw a preview for some reality show that I want to watch one time, just to see what it's like. It's got something to do with a chef or teacher or something, and it's supposed to air sometime this month. I don't have to watch BET for entertainment; I can go to the club and catch everything they air!

Remember when Donnie Simpson was on BET hosting Video Soul? That was what I liked. Back before the thugs and the uncreative people took over, BET used to have really good videos. I like the videos that tell a story (New Edition, Atlantic Starr, Curtis Blow, etc). Now we just watch a bunch of rappers jump around women who are gyrating and smiling all over the place. What happened to the video going with the song? Why are a majority of the songs about what a woman can shake, gyrate, drop, etc? There is no reason to stoop to this level. Then they want to take the high road when it comes to the WORDS used in shows. So it's okay for a woman to wear dental floss as an outfit and shake her behind in the camera, but it's not okay to say 'gun' or show one? That amazes me. I stopped watching BET a long time ago and don't plan to go back unless The Game gets picked up by them. Then I'll watch it until they start messing with the script and changing the dynamics of the show, at which point I'm done. I heard on the radio that BET wants to compete with TV One. They have a long, long way to go!

I haven't watched BET since 5 years. So I don't even know what kind of filth is aired now, same goes for MTV.

To be honest, the only way I know anything about the videos on BET is because I have a 15-year-old daughter. Since she's into videos and occasionally watches BET, I decided I better know what she's watching. Trust me, after the conversations we've had about respecting women, she's started watching less and less.
