Everything is either

- Reality

- Medical

I feel there are way too many shows about dancing, "talent", and trashy reality like Cheaters, etc. It seems that the networks are fascinated with people who live and act like sleazy trash. And the sad part is, people are watching the sleazy trash. You're right, there needs to be more fictional dramas on television. I also miss the old style comedies that used to be on tv like The Golden Girls, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, etc. Even though I have watched enough Golden Girls re-runs where I am sick of seeing it, it WAS a good show.

TV for me since about 2005 has just been a blur. Really nothing thats caught my attention and made me want to see each episode.

Use to like sex and the city. So well written, great characters. There havent been many shows lately where I've been invested in the characters. I've been super disconnected with tv. None of it seems real or tangible anymore. Maybe too much dancing, reality, talent shows that water down anything remaining thats good.

Indeed! And add Northern Exposure to that list for me! I don't watch any dramas now. We're enjoying Hung on HBO but it's not a drama.

I saw previews for yet another medical drama coming in the fall. I work in health care so I tend to avoid those.

Rescue me is one of my favorites. Other favorites:
Mad Men (the ultimate)
True Blood
Entourage
The Closer
Saving Grace
Raising the Bar (started out bad this year, but has definitely picked up)
Hung
Nurse Jackie
Weeds
Dexter
The Tudors (I know it's not historically correct, but love Jonathan Rhys Miller)
Cancelled shows:
Deadwood (still waiting for the movie)
Six Feet Under (I loved the actress Rachel (?) on SFU. Unfortunately, I can't stand Brothers and Sisters - too much like the yuppy complainers from Thirty Something.
The Sopranos
Six Feet Under

In addition to some of the others mentioned, I also like Lie To Me and Better Off Ted. I think Better Off Ted will be canceled, if hasn't already. But I'm happy Lie To Me is coming back for another season, along with Fringe.
