I think I remember them addressing this on the show at one point (could have been some other show completely). Basically, it is good to have a few good quality pieces (yes even a $150 - $300 item) to mix in with other pieces.
It's always better to have good quality pieces! But not everybody can afford a $ 150 pair of pants or shirt! And even the people who take part in the show may not be able to pay that price ever again for any item. That's the problem.
A good show would be to teach people how to look fine on a very low budget

Sure they may not be able to buy pieces like that again. But good quality pieces of clothing are going to last longer. I guess a "good" show would teach people how to look fine on a low budget - but that is not what WNTW is about. There are other shows that have that premise.
FWIW, I believe that it is better to have 20-30 outfits that are of good quality than 100 pieces of low quality clothing. Not to say that you cannot throw in some things like camis, belts, or a jean skirt that is OK to buy from a not so high end store. But a good suit, shoes, slacks, jackets - I think it is worthwhile to invest money in those items.
I know they wanted to spice up the show a little, but why did they choose to get rid of Nick instead of Carmandy? I like both, but don't understand how they decided Nick was the one to change out. Maybe they'll get rid of Carmandy in the future? I hate when they mess with the people on the show. It throws the dynamics off. Granted, I didn't like that Nick wanted to cut everyone's hair, but I thought he was a great guy.

what should I wear for a change...something interesting, like, I've heard about the glove pocket jeans?
Any suggestions...or maybe I should google glove pocket jeans..
What I want to know is, what has happened to Clinton? He always seems to be out of patience now, always slightly simmering below the surface.
I wonder if he's tired of being on the show. Or if he's working on something else now as well and is burning the candle at both ends. Or if something is going on in his life. Whatever it is, it's noticeable in his demeanor.
Anyone still watch this show?
Used to catch it every week, then just lost interest.
Today while channel surfing, it caught my eye.
They were helping a Transexual woman..
Next week Shannon Elizabeth the actress will be their victim.
Might start watching again.... maybe?
I caught an old episode "Renae" (I think) who was a very strange flight attendant with big, platinum hair and white lipstick, gaudy hooker cloths, and a irritating teen valley girl voice, and a strange way of puckering up her lips as she spoke. That was the first time I wondered if this show was legit. I like Stacy and Clinton but this episode was beyond believable. Does anyone know if What Not to Wear ever commented on this episode?
I watch it once in a great while. The BBC version with Trinny and Susannah was SOOOO much better. I can't stand Stacey and Clinton.
