Dear USA Network; in re "In Plain Sight"
I am very disappointed in your decision to end this season of "IPS" with a "cliffhanger". I put the quotes around that word because no thinking human being (which means all viewers of "IPS") really believes that you're going to kill Mary off. Are you reverting to the '70s mentality that told the idiots running ABC that the only way people would come back for more "Dallas" was to see if "JR" or someone was going to survive?
We loyal viewers of "IPS" are smarter, more sophisticated TV viewers than the people who used to watch "Dallas". I pride myself on being able to say that I never watched 5 minutes of that trash, or any of its spin-offs. We will be back next spring, but not because we have to see Mary's miraculous "recovery". We'll be back because we value and respect good writing, developed characters and a story arc that (until now) does not treat us like idiots.
Possibly the only things that could turn us off "IPS" would be; killing off Mary, killing off Marshall or having the two of them "hook up", as the kids now call it. Oh, I guess a "dream sequence" might finish off a lot of us.
Thank you

Seems that 'the season' is now only 9 episodes for shows like In plain sight, Burn notice, L&O:CI, We watch these shows and the announcer says, tune in next Sunday for the season finale. What? You've only been on for 2 months.
So after the last scene of In plain sight, the announcer says - New episodes coming next spring. Aug 9th to next spring, 8 months.

I agree with you, gg but I want to say that was the best scene I have ever seen a male actor do...Marshall's breaking down for Mary. Kudos to the writers who had the guts to show a man crying his eyes and heart out for the woman he loves. (Don't get any ideas, USA!) I was stunned, (crying along too) to say the least.
The season is much too short for quality drama like IPS IMO. Give us to at least September for crying out loud!!! What will we do until the spring now?
LOL I must be pretty "well rounded" since I appreciate well written stuff like IPS yet can enjoy cr ap like Big Brother too. Or do you think I'm a little off center?

The thing I have noticed is they are breaking them into chunks now instead of one long run. Air a few episodes then call it the "summer finale" and break for a few months. It really isn't the end of the season just taking a break... I hate it. I would rather a show run from whatever date to whatever date then break until the next season instead of taking a few months off in the middle to try and stretch it out.

I wonder if the actress who plays Mary, I don't even know her real name, , is pregnant or a salary dispute? I sure hope IPS comes back in the spring. There have been lots of shows I "got into" and they just disappeared.

Mary McCormick (sp?) plays Mary. I haven't heard or read of any salary dispute, although it's possible. I never watch any of those "inside edition" type shows or read magazines that cover that stuff. I think I saw on IMDB that she had another kid earlier this year but I don't think that would cause any problems. I think the short season thing is kind of annoying, especially because it leads to long blank stretches, but I guess they're copying that from "The Sopranos".

I read somewhere that the orignal finale was two hours long, but the network decided to run it as a cliffhanger and reshoot the second half. Apparently next season will have all new writers and they'll be reworking the cast.

I liked the finale. Thought it was awesome as far as good writing goes. It doesn't bother me that they do 2 "mini-seasons" in the course of a year. Makes the wait alot more tolerable that waiting from March/April until October like some shows make you do.
I just llike the show.
