Most who hop on their high horse and chastise Russell for nothing more than playing the best game - a game that is centered around deceit and backstabbing.
The issue was not him being deceitful. The issue was his arrogance and meanness. We saw it in the way he bullied Natalie and Mick before the final tribal; most people won't vote for that sort of person, and the fact that Russell didn't realize this means he was a bad social player.
I don't recall anyone ever winning the game while being a complete jerk to their tribemates. Even winner-villains like Hatch, Brian, and Todd were mostly pleasant to their tribemates' faces.

Curious, how was Russell mean to the castmates that voted. We saw things on TV that they did not
People are calling Russell a sore loser and he probably was - rightfully so.
But, let's not forget a jury full of bitter, vindicative sore losers. Most who hop on their high horse and chastise Russell for nothing more than playing the best game - a game that is centered around deceit and backstabbing. Let's not forget that the majority of the jury were pompous and arrogant when they had the numbers. They let that arrogance be their demise so they felt they had no other option but to take it out on the individual who orchestrated it.
I think a lot of people are missing the boat on who the actual sore losers are.
There, I've spoke my peace! Happy Holidays everyone!! Looking forward to Heroes/Villains next year!
You got that right, RedSox! Did you see the puss on "Danger" Dave Ball all through the finale? Others too but he just stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Even at the reunion.

Bingo. Had he developed humility at some point, and been able to hold in his need to gloat and brag, he wins that game because at the jury session, he could confess all his betrayals and say: "Ahma tell you straight up. Ah lahked all of y'all. Ain't no doubt Ah lahd to y'all, manipulated ever' which way. Ah had to. Ah was an older gah; Ah didn't have the speed and stamina of a 20-year-old. They'd whoop my butt. Outsahd the game, Ah'd love to have y'all over to mah home, relax, have fun. Outsahd the game, if you done bidness with mah awl cupnee, Ah'd see to it you never got screwed. But this was a game, and all y'all sahned up for it just lahk Ah did. And with all due respect, Ah think Ah played the best and earned it. If Ah'da made one wrong move, one'a you would be up here instead of me. But since Ah didn't, Ah hope y'all can acknowledge mah game with your vote. Thanks."
I find it amazing how badly some good players do at jury. It's obvious they're going to get called out, and yet they give lousy speeches and even lousier answers.

That would have been the perfect speech for Russell, j_k_k! That boyah needs sum learnin' in socialization!

Agreed, I wonder if Russell would have won if he took a nicer approach and wasn't such a jerk....

THAT would have won Russell the game AND MY support.......as it is....HE LOST.......

He would have been a fair more appealing individual without the gloat-a-thons. Of course, there's a certain segment of society these days that glorifies gloating as the just privilege of the victor in any competition. Makes me sick in sports.
I'm catching up as I didn't get to watch Sundays show, do to my grandmothers passing.
I do agree - Russell being a sore loser..
With that said - In my opinion, Russell did indeed play the best game.
I think the Jury was bitter.
It was a blast reading everyone's input - See ya's next season
