If you can afford it, I have found that LG has an excellent picture and sound.

I went with the Sony Bravia KDL46V5100. 46 inch 120hz

Beautiful picture, amazing HD.

Highly rated by consumer reports, CNET, and most other places I checked.

I watched the price continue to drop through the summer and got a pretty good deal at BEST BUY where they threw in a Sony Blu Ray player. The total cost was $300 less than what this flat panel alone was going for a few months ago.

We were committed Sony customers until we had trouble with the last one and it was only three years old. Our LG is a couple years old, and we are very pleased with both picture and sound.
