Default Great Idea for a Reality Series

I'd call it Unemployment Intervention" and the premise would be families and friends of chronically unemployed freeloaders who perpetually sponging off them forcing the unemployed person into an intervention. It would be based on the format of the classic Intervention series--a profile, a pre-intervention, the actual intervention where the freeloader is confronted by his significant others to either shape up or they are going to "ship" him out. The program would then offer the freeloader a job and he/she can either accept it and be welcomed back into the clan, or decline it and face the consequences of being cut off by everyone whose life he/she negatively affects. Sound like a winner?

Sounds just like Intervention, but without the interesting stuff.

On the contrary, I see family members getting into verbal confrontations, maybe scuffles as someone tries to throw the loafer's clothes out into the street and the freeloader takes a swing, guns being waved around, a pot shot or two, police being called for domestic disturbances, all sorts of interesting stuff. at the end show the freeloader on the job, conversations with the boss about how bad a worker he is and why he's going to let him go. I mean the potential for good, interesting entertainment is unlimited. If I could only pitch it to the creator of Intervention!

"Unemployment Intervention" would not get picked up during a recession by any network. Change the name and make sure you do a great job casting, then you might have a slim chance to pitch this to someone that can get it on the air. Good luck.

You're right. The title stinks. Maybe "Recession Intervention". But the show would be at its strongest during a recession, following the dictum that "misery loves company".

Can you imagine any show more boring than an hour-long expose of people who hoard stuff in their homes???? Yet there it is! "Hoarders"

I think it is a great idea! Write up a specific proposal, copywrite it (Copyright - Patent Office.com ) and give it a shot!

Thank you, Glory. Maybe I'll do it. Long as the producers of Intervention don't sue ME for copyright infringement!

I have a better idea. I'd like to see a reality show called "We Need to Outsource Jobs in Order to Stay Competitive." The show would involve intercepting CEO's on their giant yachts, getting on or off their private jets, etc., and asking them why they have no qualms about firing Americans and then investing U.S. capital and knowledge into third world labor pools.
