As far as I'm concerned, Heaton's character on Everybody Loves Raymond never existed. She's just so different on The Middle.

Love the show and watch it every week. I can relate to Brick and Mike.

Anyone here still watching?

Sue apparently has finally had a big success. A boy not only knew her name, but he also did a big silly romantic gesture to impress her.

And also they did a tribute to departed actress Frances Bay.

I might be mixing up episodes or discussing more than one.

I just started watching it - like 2 days ago literally.

I have seen 3 episodes. I like it.

I wish Ricki Lake was still cast as the mom because I don't like Heaton. Too shrill and tbh what I know about her real life personality makes me wish she wasn't successful.

But I will continue to watch - the jokes are ok and I like the scenarios - it's easy to watch.

My favourite character is the girl.

I watch for every character except Heaton's. She's not funny at all. But maybe that's the way its supposed to play out.

I think Ricki Lake was originally cast to be the Mom, but Patricia Heaton has been in it since the pilot. So you didn't miss any episodes with Ricki Lake as the Mom or anything.

I like Heaton. Her character is so different than Deborah on Everybody Loves Raymond. At times her and Axl can get annoying, but overal it's a great show. I know I'll be looking back at it fondly in ten or twenty years.

I really enjoy the Middle----it just proves that all sitcoms do not have to cutting edge to be successful.

Its a very relateable show-----I like Patricia Heaton in this show.

The only good family TV show on TV, so hilarious. I love how well Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn played against type as the parents. Patricia played the witchiest wife I've ever seen on TV on Everybody Loves Raymond then played the belaguered but genuinely nice Frankie. Neil played the mental case psycho Janitor on Scrubs but does well playing a deadpan manly average joe type dad.
