Southland got terrible ratings. It's moving to TNT where it will probably do much better. They should be thanking Leno because I doubt the ratings would have improved for them if they stayed on NBC.

NBC is going further down the toilet everyday. they're going to need a miracle in the form of a good drama at this point
I'm one of them! I haven't watched the Tonight Show with Conan. I am watching Leno every night...just not live. I record it on the DVR and watch it later at night. I agree with you about the rest of NBC...it's horrible. I only watch one other NBC show and that is Heroes. I'm even starting to worry about that.

I made myself watch Conan's first show and turned it off within 5 minutes. Haven't turned it back on since then.

I've watched most of Leno's shows and still enjoy it. The only thing different is I record them all and some I watch later. Some guests I don't care to watch so I FF past them, but I did that before too. I like his green car racing, his making them earn their promos and most of the 10 @ 10 deals. Jaywalking and headlines aren't much different.

I haven't watched anything on NBC at that hour for several years with the exception of ER, so it didn't take away any NBC shows for me.

Sam Simon, one of the developers of "The Simpsons", was quoted as saying this today on "The Wrap Up Show" on Howard 100 Sirius/XM:

"NBC will NEVER recover from this", referring to the Leno show.

NBC is in a very tough position with this - his program is pulling really poor ratings and it's killing the local affiliates as a lead and hurting the ratings for their local news (which is big $$$ to them)

NBC has been OK with taking a little bit of a ratings hit, because they feel the show can be profitable even with lower ratings than what it's pulling because it's so cheap to produce

so corporate NBC doesn't care because they're making their money - local affiliate NBC is upset because they're getting killed

NBC can strong arm them for a bit, it won't last forever .... either rating will need to go up, they find a better way to tie it in as a lead to the late local or what I think is most likely - some exec is losing their job and leno will be repacked into some other issue and they'll go back to traditional programing of some sort

I still think the largest bust in TV history is Loni Anderson from WKRP in Cincinnati.

Hmmm. I seem to recall similar comments being made by many back when Conan took over the old Letterman spot on NBC. Be sure to come back in a year or so when Leno's show is settled in and the ratings are where they should be.
