I watched for a couple hours yesterday too. It's funny when the guy had outed the camp in the mountains and then he had to drive there for 2 hours to warn them.
I was thinking to myself, why doesn't he just call them? Then it dawned to me that this was 1983 when cell phones were not in play.
They were all so young and Mark Singer was the hot guy on TV.
Dang, times have changed.

And those HUGE mobile phones...
I'm watching it and enjoying it despite the pace differences from today. I keep looking for BSG and its intensity and it feels like occupation lite. I think a LOTof the stuff that we see now is the result of Lost and the pace and layering which are becoming normal in so many genres now.
What I thought about with the guy that told was why was he welcomed back? Or had they simply not gotten far enough in the occupation and resistance to see only black and white.
Or its one of the things that are different in tv today. We have much more dark stories and the edge that comes with them. I'm wondering if the new show will have a deeper layer of suspicion and the absolute.

I loved V when I was a teenager, but now the original miniseries looks so cheesy. It's more amusing than frightening. When the scene where the second twin is born came on, my husband and I started laughing. The reptilian human baby was horrible, wasn't it? It looked like something out of a 70s Godzilla movie from Japan.
Yes people, I know I've been spoiled by all the CGI advances that we've had since the original V miniseries. I think I've also been spoiled by BSG the series. That gave a realistic version of occupation, and mistreatment from another group.
A big "yeah that" to person who said the plots are nonsensical. The dialogue is so bad. Could Diana's character be anymore of a caricature?
But it was nice to go down memory lane....

It begins tonight!
I'm still on Part II of the Final Battle, but I should be done before the new V begins. The orignal series is so cheesy to watch now, but still very fun. I'm hoping the new V is as good as described.
Edit: I was perusing the official site and noticed that Alan Tudyk ("Wash" from Firefly) is also on this show. A mini-reunion of the Firefly cast.

Funny, we watched "Allien" last summer, my kiddo, just fell off of her chair laughing at how stupid it was. I remember it being incredibly scary. But, the special effects are funny now, when the alien goes across the lab, you can literally hear the "hot wheels" in the monster.

loved it cause it is sci fi however it will be just as cheesy. The blonde lady will always escape somehow which isn't realistic but it is TV.

The story was originally written about a fascist takeover of the US. Brandon Tartikoff and other NBC execs didn't feel that people would buy the story and asked that it be re-written with aliens as the protagonists.
Tonight's episode was a pretty good opener, I thought. It is interesting to see some of the differences and similarities:
1. Instead of a macho male lead, we get a macho female lead
2. Seems like they wrapped up both Daniel & Robin's character from the original V into Tyler. A young innocent human seduced by a pretty alien who may turn traitor.
3. Compromising a vain reporter to further their agenda.
4. The reference to ID4 was pretty funny. They were basically saying ID4 stole a lot of story from the original V.
5. Interesting that all the Vs are "pretty" this time. If you were making a mask for yourself, why would you choose to look like Robert Englund after all?

I wasn't too impressed tonight. It was okay but I'd actually like to see the story about Facists taking over the US! The lizard skin looked pretty good. Needless to say I was very shocked when the guy FBI agent turned out to be a V and tried to kill his girl. I'd be scrubbing and scrubbing 'til eternity after finding THAT out!!!
