Default This Network

If there's a thread about this already, I apologize...I didn't see one.

When one of our local stations went digital, they added a channel called "This". (We laugh at their network name being said...usually a woman whispering "This"...sounds like a snake..."Thissssssss").

It's actually not bad at times. It's essentially a free movie channel with a few old TV shows thrown in. For example this morning (Saturday) I just watched an old original episode of "The Outer Limits".

It predominately shows older movies, some pretty old, but seems to rely heavily on '70s, '80s, and '90s movies. Some are pretty good and well known, many are fairly obscure (to me), some very good, some really not so much. I'm guessing the network is owned by MGM as every movie has the lion at the end.

Anyone else have this network, have any more info on it, like it or hate it?

Default This

We also have it in the Detroit area.I watch it on occassion, mostly late at night when all that is on the other channels is paid programming. Anything is better than that.

We have the Retro Television Network run on our local CBS digital substation - mostly 60's & 70's shows like Adam-12, Dragnet, Emergency, Daniel Boone, and to my delight, Peter Gunn!!

Sounds like "This" works on the same concept.

Yup, our CBS affiliate has it as well. I like Peter Gunn too, and am tickled that Jack Benny and Alfred Hitchcock is on. It's a shame when a show that's been canceled for nearly 50 years is often the best thing on!

Cougfan, which "cougs" are you a fan of?

This is owned by MGM so they have access to a lot of old movies & shows.

Washington State!! (despite how bad the football program is right now - but they will come back!)

I practically grew up on Adam-12 and Dragnet. Jack Webb sure had it rolling in the late 60's/early 70's.

I think RTV is now the "network" I watch most - I must be an old fogey!
