If you're looking for local weather, you should definitely go to NW's website.
They offer VERY detailed forecasts for EVERY area of the country. NWS is responsible for issusing all severe watches/warnings across the United States.
The Weather Channel actually used to be an enjoyable channel in the 90s. Now, it's extremely unwatchable.

We live in an rural area with no local stations. There are stations in the surrounding area with a short weather forcasts, but we have always relied on the WC for our weather forcast. Sure, the WC always had the commercials, etc., but they have gotten so much worse. Since coming under NBC/MSNBC's umbrella , they've added business reports.....oh come on now. Do you think there may be another channel out there providing business reports??? They keep showing the same old tired shows over and over again, i.e., When Weather Changed History, Storm Stories, etc.! Give me a break!! Gid rid of 'em! It's just old and worn out news!
Then last night when there was severe weather moving into the area, don't bother tuning into the WC because they were showing a MOVIE!!! Yep, seems with all the other junk they dish out, instead of actual weather, they have added movies! Oh sure, it was a weather related movie -- The Perfect Storm -- but it's an OLD movie, and one I could have viewed on any number of other MOVIE stations! I want to see WEATHER on the WC, not movies!
Hello, Weather Channel.....it's about the weather, not entertainment for pete's sake! Catch a clue NBC, have the Weather Channel focus on weather -- there MUST be a reason it was named THE WEATHER CHANNEL!
Just me venting here.....but I know I can't be the only one who HATES the Weather Channel!!! Sheesh......I'm feeling better now......

I agree 100%. I would always watch TWC especially with severe storms. But like you said; all we get is either a Movie, When Weather changed history, News or commercials. My Mother refuses to watch it anymore because of all the Commercials. When I told her about the other, she fell out laughing and wanted to know why they bother to call it The Weather Channel. It should be only Weather live. That's why it's called TWC.

With Direct TV, local weather comes in based on the Zip code in the receiver.

I used to like TWC a lot more than I do now. It's turning into Weather Entertainment Weekly. I want weather information, not a bunch of froofraw.

I hate TWC.
Used to be you could GET THE WEATHER.
They have ruined it. Hopefully it will get so many bad reviews it will lose sponsors.
Maybe then it will be TWC again if enough people raise their voices to protest the junk they have on there now.

It just adds to my stock of "when I was your age" stories.
"When I was your age - The Weather Channel actually showed the weather!!"

I loved it back when I was a child and it was all about the weather. Then it became too commercialized and lost its character. When they got rid of Cheryl Lemke, that was it for me. I watch it on occasion, but I can always watch the local news and weather radars for weather. Not just Atlanta's.
