I liked Dark Shadows too as a daytime show, but also loved all the tv westerns they had on back then. My favorite was Jesse James with Christopher Jones. Others include: Guns of Will Sonnett (Dack Rambo), Shenandoah (Robert Horton), Sugarfoot (Will Hutchins), Cheyenne (Clint Walker), Wanted: Dead or Alive (Steve McQueen), Rawhide (Clint Eastwood), Rifleman and Branded (Chuck Conners), Laredo (Neville Brand, Phillip Carey, Peter Brown, William Smith, and Robert Wolders), Alias Smith and Jones (Pete Duel {and later Roger Davis}, Ben Murphy) and later in the 80's the movie series, I think there were 3, Desparado with Alex McArthur. The only other thing I remember Chris Jones doing after that western, was that fantastic movie with Robert Mitchum and John Mills called Ryan's Daughter. All the other actors from these series also went on and did some great movies too. Can you name any???
I remember rushing home from school to watch Dark Shadows every afternoon, it was very popular back when.
I did the same thing. It started at 4pm and I got out of school at 3:15, so I was able to get some of my homework done first.
So what TV series did you first get hooked on??? .
In order, the biggies were:
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
Man from UNCLE
Lost in Space
Star Trek
Rat Patrol
1968 was a horrid year -- Lost in Space, Voyage, and Rat Patrol were all canceled at the same time (and my idol, Mickey Mantle, retired). At least Voyage and Rat Patrol went into syndication and were stripped on WPIX out of NYC -- Voyage at 6:30, RP immediately thereafter at 7:30.
In the years since, I've retained my interest in Voyage, Rat Patrol, and Trek (adding TNG, DS9 and Enterprise along the way -- Voyager did nothing for me).
I agree...it was originally on when I was a 'tween' so I didn't watch it then, but when I caught reruns in the late 90s early 2000s, thought it was hilarious!
The first shows I can remember wanting to see every episode were:
Saved by the Bell - before I got to high school and realized how cheesy it really was!
Wonder Years - still think it's one of the best thought up shows ever made! Only wish the ending wasn't rushed like it was.
The Gene Carrol Show ( local talent variety show )
I LOVED Wild Kingdom...I forgot about it. A few more I forgot...Mission Impossible, Bonanza, Wonderful World of Disney, The Munsters......
