This all started when Conan's contract renewal was coming up and he had been promised the 11:30 slot so that he would not leave NBC. However... Leno's show in that slot was drawing the highest ratings for all the late night talk shows. So in order to keep Conan, NBC in all its wisdom decided to trash their number one late night Leno show and give it to Conan. And in order to do that they threw Leno a pathetic bone giving him a reduced format at 10PM. They thought they would get a win-win situation by no longer having to produce an expensive scripted show for that 10PM slot. Although as most people perceived, the Leno 10PM show was an abysmal failure against scripted shows in that slot on other networks.
And Conan just doesn't have the stuff to carry the 11:30 show. He has lost over half of Leno's audience and ratings. What an enormous CF!! So now NBC in its "wisdom" proposes giving each of these guys a fraction of the former mega successful time slot. What a disaster that would be. I believe that because of NBC's massive blundering of this total mess that both talents are now damaged goods and they should both be let go. So NBC, admit that you carried out one of the biggest blunders in network TV history and you destroyed your successful brand - You can't get it back.
Let both Leno and Conan go and move the bright talent Jimmy Fallon into the 11:30 - 12:30 slot. He's great and has an entertaining and interesting show. Let him build from ground up what NBC has destroyed.
I just watch the C-D show, and in some forums it's just that!
