I agree.

They appeal to those who's mind's are already corrupted by much more powerful influences like politics, education, and religion.

I agree with the OP. I feel if I was raising a child now I'd want to move to some remote place and totally limit all interaction with this vapid narcissism although it would be impossible unless you had some sort of like minded commune that had other kids for them to play with.
I do watch Survivor but that is it.
My version of a good reality show is those PBS series where they took families and had them spend a summer living like they did in the 1800s or Victorian England. A positive learning experience.

Honestly, I'm getting sick of all these reality shows. "Reality" TV is getting ridiculous and it needs to stop. I remember a time (over ten years ago) when there were only a few reality tv shows such as "The Real World" and "Bug Juice"----I was very young at the time. But it seems like ever since 1999/2000 it's been nothing but RT show after RT show. I'll admit it, I watch "Keeping up With the Kardashians" when I'm completely bored out of my mind and there is nothing else on. But I'm over it! All RT does is proclaim the message: "Look at me and make me a star while I air my dirty laundry for all the world to see. I don't mind giving up my morals and dignity for that 15 minutes of fame!" Is this what we want to be teaching our youth?

I don't mind the DIY or educational programs with that small element of RT....at least people can LEARN something from those programs. But garbage such as "Bethanny Getting Married" and "You're Cut Off"....it's just a bunch of s***. When I graduate college next year and move in to my own place, I will NOT be watching TV or paying for cable, not if the majority of channels are all about RT shows. I am done supporting those fame-hungry monsters....they need to get some legitimate talent and win fame through having actual talent. Moreover, these RT people need psychiatric help, not a camera in their face. Let's quit it with the glorifying of narcissism already!

Seriously, my family is all of the "RT" I need, sheesh! And I don't have to pay money for that (it's far more interesting)! *laughs*
