I've really had no problems with Comcast...the prices are decent for their triple play (phone, internet, and cable)...and I've had no problems with their service....getting someone out to the house to work on something is much easier with Comcast than with satellite. And it seems everytime my promotion is about to run out, I just call them up and they extend my promotional price...this is going on a few years now. Last year, I was able to get another promotional price for a year, and for the same price they threw in free HBO for a year and gave us a higher internet speed. I called yesterday because our promotion was almost up, and this time, for the same price we've been paying, we got another free year of HBO and a free year of Starz. Not bad.
I've looked into the bundle packages from Verizon (with directv, there is no Fios in my area), and Comcast overall still beats them for what you get. I've heard nothing but complaints from friends who have Verizon internet, plus its a lot slower than cable. I've had Directv in the past, and it was OK, but I don't like the fact that you're locked into a contract, plus I can't get my Phillies games on satellite. Dish Network looks like it really sucks if you're a sports fan...no MLB Network, NFL Network, and no local sports networks.
I think Comcast gets a bad rap. Like someone above mentioned, we also had Adelphia before Comcast bought them, and Adelphia was horrible to deal with, and high prices for what you got. Adelphia was what originally drove me to switch to Directv for a while...but I had withdrawal from not being able to see many Phillies games on TV, plus dial-up internet was becoming impossible to use...so back to cable it was.
Where I live we only have three choices: Comcast, Direct TV and Dish TV. I never had any problems with Comcast but they got to be very expensive. Now I have Dish and I have way more channels than I had with Comcast and am paying alot less.

Agree. We get just as many channels, if not more with Dish and we've been much happier with them. I can't stand Comcast.
You should tell comcast to kiss your arse and tell them you are switching to cox or whatever else is in your area or direct tv. I bet they come out sooner than 4 days after you tell them that.
We have Comcast because we do the 3-in-1 service. They aren't great but I'm not going crazy because they are terrible either. We've had some issues with our DVR...shows not deleting, that stupid box popping up telling me to disconnect my DVR if I want to watch On Demand, having to set recordings 2 minutes early and 2 minutes late otherwise I miss the show, etc etc. We had a lot of issues when we first switched our house to Comcast (the previous owners had Dish Network) and they had a technician at our house nearly every week for 2 months because it seemed like every day another problem came up. Two years later, it happens every once in a while and when we call, we get someone out by the next day to fix it. Perhaps it's different if you live somewhere with more customers.
BTW, if you call Comcast for the same thing twice, remind them that you want a free pay cable channel. It's their policy (but they don't advertise it). We've been able to get all kinds of free stuff (and the On Demand channels too) because they seem to come out over the same issue time and again.
2 calls=free HBO/Showtime/Starz for 3 months. At least you should get something out of it...
