Why are cable shows/movies still censored? (channels, stations)

It is now 2010 and some channels like F/X get it, but most don't. Why are we still censoring shows/movies? With all sorts of technology to keep your precious kids from watching the wrong shows, but why continue to ruin good movies? I really think that we are advanced enough as a society to be able to hear swear words.

You need both so you have the option. Whos kids go to bed at 9 O'clock anymore. Not many. If they are around and not in bed then as a parent you might want to switch to a censored tv station. If no stations were censored there would be no option.
