The Halloween show was very good. The banter between the characters was just great, and the ending when Dano learned he had talked to a ghost was hysterical.

The new show is fun and I like it although I have to admit I like almost anything associated with Hawaii my other home.
I said quite a bit in defence of the original before but, in response to your comment, if you think the writing and acting on the original were nothing exceptional, and the stories were formulaic, you didn't watch the show at all.

Were they doing typical murder, kidnapping, and robbery stories where they go through five suspects, focus on one, and then find the real culprit at the very end, which many cop shows of the time, and now, do? No, they didn't.

The storylines went in a different direction, and focused on the criminals, as well the character development of the criminals and victims, and as well as the main cast. I guess all that was lost on you. Do you remember the Vashon Trilogy, a three-part episode focusing on a Honolulu crime family that guest starred Harold Gould and Luther Adler, among others? Or the sixth-season opener, Hookman, about a killer with artificial hands who goes after the officers who arrested him, killing each one by one, and saves McGarrett for last?

There are many more I could name, but it doesn't look like what I say would register with you, since whenever you saw the original series recently - of you did - you didn't even bother to pay attention to what you saw, and labeled everything about it the same way.

The acting on the show had different ranges - from excellent to bad, but that is true for every show. For you to lump them all into one category shows a poor perception of acting, how people convey emotions, and understanding of the characters - things you wouldn't get as a kid, but should understand as an adult.

Another cookie-cutter crime drama show where everyone is a perfect ten, former special forces, and all full of snarky one liners while dodging bullets, driving classic muscle cars, and living in a trendy high priced condo. The original may be dated in some respects, but I miss the 70's crime dramas that cast real looking people you see every day and had a certain grittyness about them, as opposed to shows today that depend more on underwear models, scenery, fashion, and sarcasm to pull in ratings. Too bad Hollywood can't figure out how to split the difference somehow.

I thought last nights show was the worst of the series. I can't stand Dennis Miller and devoting the opening to his idiotic tirades was unbearable, and I quickly hit the mute button. James Caan needs to stay in retirement. Nothing in last nights episode held my interest, nothing was funny or cute or remotely interesting. And I'm sorry but that was the nastiest looking pizza I've ever seen.

So McGarrett has been gone for like a month now, they show a new episode followed by 3 weeks of reruns. Is CBS trying to get this show cancelled?

Last Monday's episode, I recorded and watched it last night. Well the SECOND PART was on NCIS-Los Angeles, a show I don't watch, so I have no idea how it ends.

Really dumb on CBS part.

The finale was great if not just a little over the top, looks like a story arc for the entire next season. They better not kill off Boomer...er Kono.
