Hi all,
posting after a while. finally settling in Tyler.
I and my wife have a 5 day break on Thnakgiving. was thinking of going to NYC but the ticket prices deter me (same for LAX)
I will really appreciate if fellow Tylerites can chip in with suggestions.
We wil like a quite place were we can relax (amenities will be highly desired) but i am very open to sugegstions. Just looking for some quite time with good food(a near must) (and swimmming, maybe fishing, trekking) and beer/wine. Should be ideally be 2 hrs around Tyler but I am pretty flexible.
suggestions and ideas are very welcome.
Regards

If you're wanting to swim in November, you will need a place with an indoor pool. It will definitely be too cool by then to swim outdoors.

i would love to know too. i probably wont even get to spend holidays off since im new to the facility and have to work around other coworkers' long-planned days off, so to know where i can hang out in even just for a weekend would be nice

I don't think that Tyler is really a "resort" kind of town. A couple of fancy hotels or motels, maybe, but a "resort"?

I understood or misunderstood to the question to be, 2 hours FROM Tyler. If that is the case, maybe 25 miles North at Holly Lake Ranch, which is in discussion now under the thread, best places to retire in East Texas. Many people rent a time share at Silver Leaf Resort or rent a cabin home at Holly Lake. The place is full of people from the DFW area. Not familiar with Brookhaven Resort in the same area, but have met several people staying there for a week or weekend this summer.

Too cold to swim, but golf, good food at: Blue Plate Cafe, Ed's Place, Two Amigos, not just Mexican food, Taste of Italy on Lake Hawkins. You might need to check if any will be open Thanksgiving. Don't know if Tiger Creek Wildlife Reserve is open that weekend. A smaller place like this may not work on a Holliday, just a thought.

Two hours away, maybe not a lot of choices, I'm sure there are some I'm not familiar with.

Another choice:

What about the Villages Resort on Lake Palestine, maybe to close to Tyler, only 15 miles from the loop down 155 at Noonday. Have nice condos to rent, and an inside water park and nearbay places to eat.
