I've lived in all 3 towns. Lufkin and Nacogdoches are small. Rentals are rather cheap. $300-500 a month. I've had friends who live there who have not been able to get jobs for many years due to the hiring personnel being rather picky about who they hire and in many cases, they would rather hire family or childhood friends so favoritism is huge there. Keep in mind, I'm deaf and so are my friends. Lots of discrimination going on. In Tyler, the city is growing so there are nicer houses and so forth. Oh, forgot to say Nacgodoches is one of the oldest towns in the USA and the first road built..El Camino Real is still in use and still has wagon ruts in some spots which is kind of cool when you think about it. Schools are so-so in Lufkin and Nacogodoches but I wouldn't recommend Tyler schools either. Lindale which is set up more further away from Tyler is better...just my experience.

I don't know if its been said already, but I would recommend Nac or Tyler. It is probably a little far out of your way but Longview isn't a bad choice either although I am unfamiliar with the school system there. We lived in Lufkin before we moved so I will be glad to answer any questions if you had them.
