Planning on a 5 day visit to the Tyler area in Nov with my wife. Does anyone know of "rentals by owner", AirBNB types of accomadations that might be available? I would rather not stay in a hotel. Any help is appreciated.

This question may have stumped me. But I'm sure Kathryn Aragon will have an answer when shes see this.

Early November should be beautiful, leaves turning color, Thanksgiving on the 27th probably to late for color.

If you just need Bed and Breakfast places: Castle-On-The-Lake may be good, Rosevine B & B has been in Tyler for years, Not a pretty part of Tyler, much of area is in need of repair, but the Brick Street are is just a few blocks away which is very nice, with much older kept up homes. There are several B & B On Chilton Street in this area but as I said I can't recommend anyplace. So I will get off here, lol, now you can direct email me on probably, probably about most anything else on Tyler, I hope, Mark

Many thanks for the response, i still have some time to get my ducks in a row. I have been watching this forum since 2007 when wife and i bought some rental housing near the highly anticipated completion of cumberland road connecting to old jacksonville hwy. Rental house will become our retirement house, looking forward to making the move permanent (few yrs down the road). By the way, i never thought you could be stumped LOL. Your knowledge of the area is a wealth of info to all who are looking for it.

Yes, you know, The Cumberland Road to Old Jacksonville is now, next on the agenda for Tyler. Just this morning I was down Old Jacksonville Road and up just to the West of OJR and found a street called the Highland, aptly named, you look East and find rolling hills, with definite, height and depth to the view. Yes, not the hill country. There is a small shopping area, that looks like South Lake and ponds with views from dinning areas from inside or on decks, Like Jul's Piano Bar and Restaurant. The area is called The Oaks and Three Lakes with, out of my reach, and that's ok, expensive really high end homes.

I am more convinced than before, Tyler is pretty unique for it's size, gee, did I say that?
