Will be in Tyler the weekend of the 25th. Thinking about staying at the Comfort Suites near south broadway mall on east rieck rd. Your thoughts on this motel. Perhaps other suggestions.

What about eating places/

Brother and sister-in-law stayed there a year or two ago. Said it was nice and not as expensive as other places. They travel mostly out of the country soo, don't over spend but not cheap either, or real budget minded. No need, nice for them, lol.

Eating places? You've seen our lists on here? You are within a mile or two of probably ___ eating places.

Oh, Rieck, is pronounced Reek. Knew the family that sold the land for the street, named after them.

Maybe others will answer with the nice non chain restaurants of their choice. If they don't I will come back with some names. I'll give it a couple of days. Never fear, plenty of good eating places. Many not known by viewers on here from Tyler.

Gee I looked through the topics and can't find where we discussed this several times.

Kathryn are you still around? I know you have good suggestions.

The Queen of Eating Out in Tyler is still around (LOL!).

There are TONS of good places to eat in Tyler. OP, what sorts of cuisines and eating out do you enjoy? I bet we've got it! Will you be taking people out for dinner? Do you want a romantic place? Give us more details and I can give you a list of awesome places.

To jiggle your inspiration, I'll tell you that we have friends visiting from Belgium (coming in today in fact) so of course American food, and especially Texas food, is novel to them. They want specifically Tex Mex food, Southern food, and (strange but true) Chinese food.

They'll be here for three nights and four days and we'll be doing a lot of running around, so my tentative plan is to be sure that we eat at the following places while they're here:

Jalapeno Tree
China King or Liangs - depending on whether they want a buffet or a sit down menu sort of dinner
Taqueria El Lugar
Happys (Cajun/Southern food - new place and it's really good!)
Juls (Asian Fusion - this will be our "fancy" night out)
Wade's Place in Chandler if they're brave enough to eat crawfish - which they might be because they're pretty adventurous!

If they want a great, locally made hamburger, I'll take them to Jucys.

I can't imagine them wanting European style food but if they do, we'll go to Bernards.

Thanks for the info. We will stay at the Comfort Suites. As for food, we are from south Louisiana. So that should tell you seafood, steaks and hamburgers. My wife will try anything but as for me, I grew up on rice, gravy and meat. Again, thanks for all the info.

Expensive steak, Dakota Steakhouse
For me the best burger is Reggis on the corner of Kinsey and Loop 323. Not a chain, I used to prefer Jucys, I've tried steak and shake, smash burger, Five Guys, MooYah Burgers Fries and Shakes, which was pretty good second choice.

Down home non expensive is Mama's on East Fifth, when you order pork chops, you get two large chops, vegetables are fresh, breakfast server all day is great. Good variety of food. Mexican of course. Mexican owned. You could call the place rustic but old would better describe it, nothing fancy, business people from crowd the place for lunch during the week.

Oh, seafood, is Red Lobster, and more expensive is West Coast type seafood at Breakers, as well as other spots I don't know about.
