Anyone care to share their two cents worth on Flint? Seems like a nice southern bedroom community for Tyler, but there are a lot of houses for sale there right now.

Flint's a nice area but it's gotten very congested over the past few years.

Flint is basically a bedroom community of Tyler, which is a positive in my opinion, since Tyler is a very pleasant town overall.

Out of the various bedroom communities of Tyler, Flint is not one of my favorites due to the sense of congestion, but that bothers some people more than others. There are so many neighborhoods and small towns surrounding Tyler - is there any particular reason why you are eyeing Flint?

A lot of houses for sale? Compared to DFW, but I don't think, it's not overbuilt, or losing population. Maybe more for sale there because it has a larger inventory base? You probably know, Old Jacksonville Highway to Bullard, about 14 miles from the (Loop )Loop 323 in Tyler, Flint , Gresham, is in the middle of that, is undergoing much of the growth of South Tyler, more housing than South Broadway. So, as Kathryn said, more congested, but more options in that area.

Another area of housing growth is in Southeast Tyler, Rhones Quarter Road, South from Shiloh in Tyler to FM346 in Whitehouse. Many new homes in the city limits of Tyler but in Whitehouse ISD, which for many is a more desirable school district. Just putting out some "stuff" lol.

Appreciate that bit of info. I will check out Whitehouse...any other recommendations on good neighborhoods around Tyler? Flint seemed to have good proximity to the private schools and shopping.

I just have to throw this in - I lived in Whitehouse for five years and HATED it. The (very small) city government is corrupt and full of constant, and really stupid, drama - it's been that way for over twenty years.

Some other fast growing bedroom communities around Tyler are, in no particular order:

Chapel Hill (east)
Gresham (south)
Bullard (farther south but still close to Tyler)
Chandler (southwest/west)
Brownsboro (farther out than Chandler)
Lindale (north)
Hideaway (northwest)

Close-ish to Tyler but not what I'd call specifically "bedroom communities" are:

Overton
Arp
Troup
Big Sandy
Van
Edom
Winona
