The long awaited Aldi's Grocery opened Thursday in Tyler. I didn't know what Aldi's was when it was announced they were going to build a store here. I assumed it would be a "low cost, low value, dollar store" type place. But, by googling, I discovered they have an ardent following with people putting up lists of "the top twenty items to buy at Aldi's" plus many posts expressing hope that Aldi will soon come to their city. Though I knew it would be a madhouse, I wandered over there in the afternoon to see what it was all about. The store was new and clean and the workers were friendly and helpful. They were working hard to keep items stocked and the only item I saw that they had run out of was fresh pineapple (on sale for $.79 vs. $1.50 regularly). Yes, the prices are very good. I bought some of the items that people had posted as must buys (chocolates, jumbo shrimp, almond butter). I'll certainly go back when the craziness settles down.

Yes, awaiting the one in the next "few years" to be built somewhere on S. Broadway near Academy.

Great prices and good selection !! Thanks for posting

Another rep for you. I enjoyed Trader Joe in Houston, but just checked Texas locations, none are located outside the Four MAJOR Metros, Austin, DFW, S.A. & Houston, at least yet.

Looks like the 2nd Aldi's coming on the east side, before the one I heard about, not in the newpaper, on South Broadway near Academy.
