My son and I are coming back to Texas at the end of March. We want to move to Tyler Texas to be close to my daughter at her University. I have job leads but need a place to live while we get jobs and settled. How do I go about doing this????
Thanks

Hi,

Welcome back to Texas! I lived in Tyler for about 7 months and just remember to have a job lined up before you make the move there. It can be hard to find a decent full-time job unless you have some good connections in the city. I had a BA degree from North Texas, and couldn't find much at all, except for some construction and some substitute teaching jobs.

east Texas is a beautiful place to live, and housing is still relatively cheap compared to other cities. Just remember that Tyler is an "old money" city, and it might be a little tough to adjust there for a few months.

Hi, buy a newspaper The Tyler Morning Telegraph and go to houses for rent or apartments for rent. Also, any realtor would help you. Good luck.

Tyler Has "old money" and LOTS of middle class and lower class. Tyler has changed. Sure, the old families are still living here but we have lots of newbies. Twenty five years ago the mall was full of Junior League types in their socks and loafers, pleated skirts and hair ribbons. Now it's just like any other mall. All types roaming around. ))-:

The old money in Tyler is dieing out & new blood is moving in. Its a different city than it used to be, even from just 10 years ago. The city is over 100,000 people now. The metro is over 200,000 & 250,000 by some estimates.
