I will need something to rent until my home sells. I have dogs and a jr high age daughter. I want a good school for her. Then of course I will want to buy after a while. I would be working at Mother Frances Hospital with a really nice job.

Hubbard Jr. High in Tyler is best bet. Apartments East of Paluxy on Shiloh stay away from, West of Paluxy on Shiloh are usually better choices, however more expensive. There is a new apartment complex on Paluxy called Stonebrook which should be good choice but expensive. More resonable are the Hudson Apt and Hunters Glen on Shiloh, these two are closer to Hubbard and TMFH. Many others are a couple of miles Southwest that would be good/ok. The apartments on Shiloh East of Plauxy simply have a little more crime because they are lower rent and 100's if not a couple thousand of units, so more chances for crime. Welcome to Tyler - when you get your home sold you can easily find what you need - Where are you moving from? Good Luck !!

Northe Tyler is a very bad run down area. You will want to live either south of the loop, Flint, Bullard, Gresham, Whitehouse, Chandler, or the Lindale area. North Tyler is no place to live and yes there is crime in that area. check out the other areas that I have mentioned, great schools and hardly any crime, manily because of the demographics.

Gangs in John Tyler High School had reached a high point with gang related fights nearly every day for the first semester. A few times officers had to be called in, in order to keep control in the school. But after the second semester the school started the Pace Program, in which the Municipal Court sentenced them to go to night school from 4 pm to 8 pm that dropped gang violence between two rival gangs. Known as a hispanic gang, Nortenos(Northsiders) and mixed races, Crips . But that started another rivalry between, Nortenos and East Side Locos. Right now securities have done a good job reducing gang violence in school. If a student stays clear of gangs and dosent affiliate with any gang or "clicks" they should not have any worries of becomig victims of any gang

[quote=Mark-Tyler is Special;4420034]I don't think this a "touchy" area - we just have not had a chance to respond.

- there are only two 5A High Schools in Tyler. Even the rivarly between the two schools has diminished in recent years - very and I mean very little gang activity here - some 5 to 10 years ago the growing hispanic population felt they could just carry on as if in Mexico, I guess, and THEY had gangs going after EACH OTHER not the public. You may hear of a stabbing in a school now and then, usuallly the type of "stay away from my man/guy/girl stuff - but not going AFTER the general public. Yes, you do hear EVERYTHING in the news here - a purse snatching, when it occurs, will make a lead-in news item. And of course, a story where somebody gets hurt or killed somewhere in the GENERAL AREA, will run for a week - but again we do have crime - there are 200,000 people in the county which is our METRO area - but LIndale,Whitehouse,Bullard have what people say are "good" schools they mean small minorities - Tyler minorities are in the majority, still ,you can find schools - if that's what you want - where that is not the case - pull up Tyler by entering citi-data.com and under Texas Cities and you will find all the vaired opinions of Tyler - vast majority are positive. Good Luck, come on over - more than 13,000 population increase since that last census - many, from out of state. Welcome, Good Luck !!!

This dosent concern the Gang Unit but I feel you should know that in recent years there has been some violence in the two rivals. Like not long ago a teenage was sentenced to life in prison for assalting a father and his daughter in a REL an JT game. There has been Mutual Combat(Rumbles) in sports event between both of the schools.

Default Gangs!

Honestly I think all gang members and wanna be gang members should be shot and killed executed. Basically deported off of our planet! Then that would make this country a better place.

Schools that have more white people then any others have basically NO problems like that! Hmmm What does that say? That is sad too! I have black and mexican friends I love to death. But that is just how it is! If you are concerned about where you raise your kids. Then look up school statistics and put them in a school that has 70% or more white kids. It is not a prejudice thing it is only a fact thing!
