Hope you all enjoyed this tour of Tyler. I think it's one of the best mid-size cities in Texas.

Default houses in Tyler

One of our friends is moving to Tyler soon. So I was interested in the pics. He and his wife have bought house in "tha azalea district" whatever that was. It was a former bed and breakfast they said. I just wondered if any of these houses would be anything similar. Adorable houses btw.

Looking at this again I just have to comment.

Tyler has to be the most beautiful city in all of Texas.

Trees, architecture, charm, hills..what more could you ask for? (except for maybe public trans)

And these were taken on a cloudy, winter day, nothing green or "flowery"

Tyler has public trans.

The Tyler Transit bus route is fairly extensive for a city this size. I see people using it all the time. Several new stops have been added over the years. http://www.cityoftyler.org/Portals/0/uploads/departments/transit/Bus%20Route%20Map%201-10-08.pdf (broken link)

For air travel we have the brand new Tyler Pound's Regional Airport which opened all new terminals several years ago & was voted airport of the year in 2007. It has several daily flights to Dallas via American Eagle & Houston via Continental. http://www.cityoftyler.org/Visitors/...8/Default.aspx

Though these pics are several years old & some things have changed from an aesthetical standpoint, they represent "inner loop" Tyler very well.

Where I was baptised as a baby, the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Future home of the East Texas Symphony Orchestra

Nit Bataan Thai restaurant is no longer occupying this space. The owners opened up a small Asian market on the westside of town. Jake's has been remodeled adding a swanky rooftop deck/lounge.

Fabulous place to eat authentic Mexican food.

Half of this historic side of the downtown square burned to the ground last year & will not be restored.

The Smith County Courthouse got a face treatment recently with a complete cleaning of the exterior walls & new green tinted energy efficient windows installed. This project was paid for with the cities half cent sales tax.

This church steeple right outside downtown is currently undergoing renovation. Its always nice to see old structures like this one saved instead of torn down & build a new one out in the burbs.

So what caused the fire? What's going to be built in its place?

And do you know the name of that tall church?

What caused the fire is still undetermined, but they do know it started in the basement of a lawyers office.
As of yet, nothing has been confirmed to be built in its place, but there have been some ideas tossed around.

There are more tall buildings than there are in these pictures. I know you were just in downtown area only what it seems like.

If you can take it in Spring or Summer, it's beautiful place to take pictures.
