I've noticed that there are quite a few Puerto Rican threads in this section, much more than any other U.S. territory, and wonder if it's a good idea to give Puerto Rico its own separate place on City-Data.

What do you guys think about this?

I think if/when they ever decide to become a state, then they would deserve their own forum. Until then they are just a territory like the others.

In regard to SVT's comment... "just a territory" - WTH does that mean or imply. Is it a lower form of status in these forums. The criteria for there to be a dedicated forum for Puerto Rico alone would be/should be...a lot of threads pertaining to just Puerto Rico. Which is easy to understand considering it's population, size, commerce and history. There's more forum interest in Puerto Rico, a US Territory, than the other US Territories so perhaps it's own forum is merited. Yeesh! Were not passing Senate Bills here.

Like Sage1 said, PR is VERY different from the other territories. Much bigger, more population, etc.

The added exposure in the US forum would also bring in more people.

It wasn't meant derogatory at all, if you took it that way thats on you not me. I love PR, lived there, still have friends there. This is just an internet forum.

I gave my opinion, you give yours.

There are only 15 threads since July 1st that are about PR, thats hardly an amount that any of the US States have as far as activity go. Most states have pages and pages of activity in a weeks time.

To date this forum has a total of 319 threads with, as noted by STV, only 15 devoted to PR since July 1st.
The only forums with less threads are Writing (267), Urban Planning (261), Genealogy (211) and Self Sufficiency & Preparedness (181). There would seem little merit at this point of devoting a whole forum to PR.

Several forums with multiple threads are by their nature designed to encourage and perpetuate debate, particularly where relationship, moral, religious and political issues are concerned. There is very minimal bashing on the US Territory forum as it's audience is primarily concerned with factual data and mostly contributed to by people who are curious about moving to a US territory from the mainland and those who can answer their questions. Not enough traffic to warrant a separate forum in my opinion but, in all honesty, a separate forum for PR wouldn't bother me one way or the other! Cheers!

Sure why not?? Why aren't they an official state anyway? It'd be nice to have another island-state.
