I'm considering retiring to PR and after teaching secondary science 25+ years I was considering tutoring for fees or even possibly volunteering some. Beginning Spanish and wondering if there is any demand for my skills. Or should I just concentrate on learning the language, culture, and meeting people and relaxing? Also, since I will probably not have a car, wondering whether that will have an effect on getting around in some areas.

Although I don't have an idea about tutoring in PR, you could check on local San Juan English schools to see if they are offering any tutoring in your expertise.
It would be wise for you to learn Spanish as then the tutoring could also be in Spanish.
Getting around the areas is not easy if you don't have transportation. It's doable, but difficult.
