Are you actually reading? Statehood won the Plebiscite and nothing happened. The Pro Statehood Party and the Governor are no longer talking about it. The initiative lasted much less than the last referendum. The United States of America forced the Pro Statehood Party to add The Status Quo and to erase the part in the paper that said Statehood means guarantee for citizenship. ELA Won hands down. From now on they just need to boycott every single process and let the US do the rest.

It took Hawaii 19 years from referendum till statehood (referendum in 1940, statehood granted in 1959). It took New Mexico 62 years for the same (requested statehood in 1850, did not get statehood until 1912).

It's only been 2 weeks since Puerto Rico's referendum ... have some patience grasshopper.

But they started a process. Puerto Rico hasn't started anything yet.

I think this shows why Puerto Rico will never be a State. Pro Statehood Puerto Ricans take the process as a joke, a political game for fun and never take it seriously. If Pro Statehood Puerto Ricans don't take the issue seriously, nobody will.
