What would you choose for Puerto Rico? —most likely scenerios (unemployment rate, private schools)

Statehood- with this option Puerto Rico gets better-off economically, but is majority made up of non-hispanic White Americans and immigrants from surrounding Latino/Caribbean countries. (Although, there is already a significant number of non-hispanic Americans and Latino/Caribbean immigrants, after statehood the numbers would become much larger and much higher percentage to the point of majority status.) Puerto Rico would be more intertwined into the American fabric and less from LatinAmerica region. Americanization would sharply accelerate, Puerto Ricans would be minority in their own island.
Independence- with this option, Puerto Rico would be much poorer, though this might be temporary if Puerto Rico eventually builds up a good economy, but would start off poor. Due to this, Puerto Rican diasporic communities would spring up in other countries besides the US, expanding PR culture. Puerto Rico itself would remain majority ethnic Puerto Rican and PR culture would still be strong and flourishing. No more protection from American superpower, Puerto Rico is more vulnerable from outside powers and domestic threats as well, but would have the opportunity to decide it's own fate and stand on it's own.
When Puerto Rico finally chooses to abandon the territory/commonwealth status, and choose a real option, one of these scenerios would be the likely results

Do people making these polls know that Puerto Rico has been under the U.S. Flag for 125 years and more Ricans live on the American Mainland than the island and nothing has changed. Well, it changed with new generations like everywhere but does anybody think that the Puerto Rican culture in danger of being instinct? LOL
and how being independent is preventing Puerto Ricans sharing with the U.S. and world? or preventing people coming to the island? These people ignore the fact that the Puerto Rican nation is a lot bigger than a political status.

No. The federal government doesn't control the education system. It's control by the locals. The best private schools in Puerto Rico are English as the language of instruction except for Spanish class and none of the natives that graduate from these elite schools have lost anything. It prepares them to go to the elite colleges back in the states.
The word Public from Public Schools means it belongs to the people/locals, the public, not the federal government. The majority of Puerto Ricans living in the 50 states that most go to the U.S. public schools, none have lost their language or identity.
but let's pretend the federal government does a power grab and only controls the public schools in Puerto Rico out of the whole nation. How are they going to enforce that only English is spoken at the home, church, clubs, neighbors and everyday activity? Are they going to control the t.v. and radio and enforce English only? That would be a interesting failure and fun to watch.
Add, how is the federal government going to manage the Department of Education in Puerto Rico? Fire all the native teachers from the island, raise the unemployment rate and pay a lot of money in endless lawsuits to bring American teachers from the mainland and expect the population to accept it and shut up? LOL. You don't know very well the Puerto Rican people.
Just to let you know, it's the Department of Public Education (A Puerto Rico Government Agency) that is the one that hires and pays the teachers and sets their retirement plan and benefits and sets up the curriculum not the Feds. The feds ain't touching that or paying for it. LOL.

I haven't voted in the poll but I see out of 4 people that voted, 3 for independence and 1 for statehood. The funny thing is these 3 people will never move to an independent Puerto Rico to live but they want others to bite the bullet. LOL.
I would choose whatever Puerto Ricans want. In other words, it’s not my place to say what’s right for PR.

No and No. NewMexico is the only state where the right to learn in Spanish is laid out in the state constitution. NM also have many Natives tribes that are protected. The only people that can put English only in the Public Schools in P.R. are the locals and island government by vote and legislation and good luck with that. Try passing a law in Puerto Rico for public schools that only English is spoken and Spanish stripped.That won't even pass my state or district and most are whites. LOL
American voters doesn't have a direct say in who gets admitted as a state or territory, wars, occupations, treaties, aids, land grab to name a long list of things in what the Feds does. Feds do what they like on this. Your state has 2 votes as Senators from 100 and they usually vote what the party tells them. Most Americans don't care about the vote one way or the another like when Utah became a territory and then a state. Like New Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska and so on.
